What to verify before selecting a platform

A tool that imports a model does not necessarily preserve its full data lineage or alignment after a revision. During a proof of concept, test these five items:

1. Source of truth: Does the AR app connect directly to your CDE, such as Autodesk Construction Cloud, BIM 360 or Trimble Connect?
2. Revision traceability: Can users identify the model version, revision date and source file in the field?
3. Coordinate preservation: Are shared coordinates, project CRS, elevation datum, units and rotation retained?
4. Update stability: When geometry changes and a new version is published, does the model remain aligned without manual repositioning?
5. Asset data: Do equipment IDs, asset tags, classifications, parameters and other required properties remain accessible in AR?

For infrastructure and underground utilities, prioritize georeferencing and survey calibration. For building interiors, prioritize revision-aware BIM integration and reliable local registration.

My recommendation: Start by evaluating Trimble SiteVision if coordinate accuracy is the primary requirement, or GAMMA AR if your models and issue workflows already live in Autodesk Construction Cloud. Add Trimble Connect where you need a shared model-data and collaboration layer.
