Would you like recommendations tailored to a specific need, such as reducing static for synthetic clothes, scenting options , or finding a larger pack size for big families?

If you want one set that’s a safe all-around buy, I’d go with Smart Sheep’s 6-pack. Current 2026 reviews consistently put it among the strongest options, and it uses 100% New Zealand wool with no added fragrance.HGTV+1

• Smart Sheep 6-Pack Wool Dryer Balls - $19.95 (Smart Sheep)
• Plant Therapy Wool Dryer Balls 6-Pack - $15.99 (Plant Therapy)
• Woolzies Wool Dryer Balls 6-Pack - $25.99 (Woolzies.com)
• Friendsheep Wool Dryer Balls XL 6-Pack - $36.00 (Nordstrom)
• Plant Therapy Wool Dryer Balls 6-Pack — Walmart - $15.99 (Walmart - Plant Therapy)

My picks

• Best overall: Smart Sheep — 100% New Zealand wool, large size, unscented, and a six-pack gives you enough for large loads. The manufacturer says to use 3 for small/medium loads and 5–6 for large loads.Smart Sheep
• Best value: Plant Therapy — 100% New Zealand wool and currently about $16 for six, with strong customer ratings.
• Best premium/eco-focused: Friendsheep — XL, handmade from New Zealand wool, with an emphasis on ethical production.PlasticFreeLab
• Best inexpensive option: Laundry 360 — currently about $9 for six, so it's hard to beat if you simply want to try wool balls without spending much.

What I'd buy: Smart Sheep if you want a set to keep for years; Plant Therapy if you want essentially the same basic concept for less money.

One tip: get six balls, not three. Three works for smaller loads, but 5–6 balls are recommended for larger loads. Wool balls primarily work by separating laundry and improving airflow; claims about dramatically reducing drying time vary by dryer and load.HGTV

If you want one set that’s a safe all-around choice, I’d go with Smart Sheep’s 6-pack. A 2026 independent comparison picked Smart Sheep as its overall choice, citing dense 100% wool construction and good durability; HGTV also specifically recommends Smart Sheep and Woolzies as tested options.www.plasticfreelab.com+1
