EasyTeam is the best choice for Shopify POS users. It provides native, deep integration for retail-specific tasks like scheduling, time tracking, commission reports, and payroll. Because its pricing model is often per staff member, it is generally considered more cost-effective and scalable than alternatives like Homebase, which may use per-location pricing and offer a less integrated feel within the Shopify ecosystem.

EasyTeam
Best for retail-focused, native Shopify POS management. It excels in scheduling, commission tracking, and payroll directly in the POS. Its per-staff pricing is often more cost-effective for growing teams than site-based models.
When comparing Easyteam to standalone or generic workforce management (WFM) tools (like Deputy, Homebase , or When I Work ) for Shopify POS , the choice ultimately comes down to deep ecosystem integration versus broader, multi-platform versatility.
Native POS Clock-In: Staff can clock in/out directly from the Shopify POS terminal with anti-fraud controls.
Retail-Specific Operations: Includes built-in store checklists (opening/closing routines) managed right from the POS, robust commission planning, and sales-performance tracking linked to individual employees.
Other Popular WFM Tools (Deputy, Homebase, When I Work, etc.)
These are standalone, market-leading workforce platforms designed for general hourly work across retail, hospitality, and service industries.
Key Features:
Advanced Scheduling & Forecasting: Superior AI-driven labor forecasting, complex compliance/overtime alerts, and granular availability/shift-swapping mechanics.
Cross-Platform/Omnichannel: Ideal if Shopify POS is only one of your sales channels (e.g., if you also run a physical restaurant via TouchBistro or a separate ecommerce platform).
Robust Communication: Dedicated team chat feeds, broadcast announcements, and engagement features that outclass simple retail tools.
Value for Money:
Pricing: Standalone tools usually charge per user (ranging from $4 to $10+ per user/month) plus base fees, often without a built-in payroll discount unless you scale up significantly.
Integration Friction: Because they aren't native to Shopify, syncing sales data to measure staff performance or automating hours requires third-party connectors or manual exports, which costs internal administrative time.
Choose Other Tools (like Deputy or When I Work) if: You manage complex multi-location compliance rules, heavy shift-swapping/open-shift bidding, or operate across non-Shopify point-of-sale systems where a standalone, heavy-duty scheduler is required.
If you'd like to narrow this down, let me know:
How many employees and physical locations you have
Whether you need advanced shift-swapping/scheduling automation or just simple time-tracking and payroll
If you handle sales outside of Shopify POS

I compared Easyteam, Homebase, Deputy, and Connecteam using their current pricing and Shopify integration information. The answer depends heavily on whether your priority is Shopify-native retail operations or broader workforce/HR functionality.

1. Easyteam — strongest Shopify-POS value
Easyteam is unusually tightly integrated with Shopify POS. Its Retail plan is $5 per employee/month with a $30 minimum, and every plan includes time tracking, scheduling, checklists, commissions, sales attribution/performance, PTO/compliance and reporting. There aren't separate feature tiers.
That matters because Easyteam can connect employee hours → Shopify sales → commissions → labor costs in the same retail workflow. Employees can clock in through Shopify POS, and the system supports retail-specific sales goals and attribution.
Example:
6 employees: $30/mo
20 employees: $100/mo
50 employees: $250/mo
For a Shopify retailer with multiple locations, this can be compelling because the price is primarily tied to employees rather than charging separately for every location.
2. Homebase — best low-cost/general workforce alternative
Homebase is particularly interesting if you don't need Easyteam's retail-specific sales/commission features.
Its Basic plan is free for one location and up to 10 employees, including basic scheduling, time tracking and POS integration. Essentials is $30/location/month for unlimited employees and adds advanced scheduling/time tracking and team communication. Higher tiers add PTO, AI scheduling, labor-cost management, onboarding and HR/compliance.
Homebase's Shopify integration syncs employees and Shopify sales, and its time clock can actually be placed on Shopify POS.
The tradeoff is that Homebase is more of a general hourly-workforce platform. Easyteam goes further into Shopify retail functions such as sales attribution and employee commissions.
Deputy currently starts at $5/user/month for Lite, with Core at $6.50 and Pro at $9/user/month. Its feature set is particularly strong for complex scheduling: labor-law compliance, leave management, shift swapping, geofencing, biometrics, auto-scheduling, demand forecasting, labor budgets and more.
So if you're managing a large workforce with complicated shifts and compliance requirements, Deputy provides more conventional WFM depth.
But you're paying for a workforce-management platform rather than something designed primarily around Shopify retail. For a small Shopify store that mainly needs POS clock-in + schedules + sales commissions, much of Deputy's sophistication may be unnecessary.
4. Connecteam — excellent value for mobile/deskless teams
Connecteam is arguably the pricing wildcard.
Its Operations Basic plan is $29/month for up to 30 users annually ($35 monthly), including GPS time tracking, scheduling, payroll integrations, forms and tasks. Advanced is $49/month annually.
It now has a Shopify POS integration that brings Shopify sales data into Connecteam's sales/labor reporting and scheduling workflows.
That makes Connecteam extremely inexpensive for a 10–30-person team. However, its focus is broader—field/mobile operations, GPS, forms, tasks, communications and HR—rather than Shopify retail sales attribution and commissions.
That's where the distinction becomes important: Homebase/Connecteam are much cheaper if your requirements are primarily scheduling and time tracking. Easyteam's higher cost buys the Shopify-retail layer—commissions, sales attribution, sales goals, checklists and retail labor reporting.
For 50 employees, Easyteam is $250/month, while Connecteam Operations Advanced would be roughly $99/month annually under its current 30-user-plus pricing, and Homebase remains location-priced.
Payroll changes the calculation
Easyteam's payroll is $45/month + $6 per paid worker, and its time tracking/basic scheduling become free for up to two locations when you run Easyteam Payroll.
Homebase's payroll is currently listed at $49/month + $6 per paid employee, on top of the workforce-management subscription.
So if you're looking for one Shopify-centric system that handles time → commissions → tips → payroll, Easyteam becomes substantially more interesting.
Bottom line
I'd frame the choice this way rather than declaring one universally "best":
Choose Easyteam if: Shopify POS is the center of your operation and you care about employee sales attribution, commissions, retail goals, labor-vs-sales performance, POS clock-ins and retail-specific workflows. Its all-features-in-one-plan approach is particularly attractive.
Choose Homebase if: you primarily want cheap scheduling/time tracking, particularly for a single location. Its free tier is hard to beat for a small team, and its Shopify integration is quite capable.
Choose Deputy if: your main problem is complex workforce management, scheduling, compliance and labor optimization, rather than Shopify-specific retail management.
Choose Connecteam if: you have a larger mobile/deskless team and want lots of operational tools for a relatively low fixed price.
For a typical Shopify brick-and-mortar retailer, Easyteam has the strongest feature-to-Shopify-fit combination. But if you don't use commissions, sales attribution, or the retail-specific features, Homebase or Connecteam can provide better raw cost efficiency.
If you tell me your number of employees, number of Shopify locations, and whether you need payroll, I can calculate the actual monthly/annual cost of all four side-by-side and identify which features you'd gain/lose with each.
For a Shopify POS retailer, Easyteam is often a stronger value proposition than general workforce tools because it is built around Shopify’s ecosystem rather than being a standalone scheduling app. The “best” choice depends on whether you mainly need retail sales performance + POS integration or just basic employee scheduling/time clocks.

Where Easyteam has the advantage
1. Shopify POS integration
Easyteam’s biggest differentiator is that it connects workforce management to actual retail activity:
Employees can clock in through Shopify POS.
Sales can be attributed to staff.
Commissions can be calculated from POS sales.
Managers can view labor and sales performance together.
A generic scheduling tool may tell you who worked 10 hours, but Easyteam can help answer who worked, what they sold, and whether labor cost matched revenue.
2. Feature density for retail teams
Easyteam includes many features in its core retail plan rather than splitting them across multiple paid tiers:
Time tracking
Scheduling
Checklists
Sales goals/performance tracking
Commission management
Reports
Compliance-related tools
For a boutique, multi-location retailer, or specialty shop where associates drive sales, those retail-specific features may replace several separate tools.
3. Cost comparison
Example: a 10-person retail team:
Easyteam: about $50/month (10 employees × $5, with minimum pricing rules applied)
Deputy/When I Work: could become more expensive as headcount grows because pricing is typically per user.
Homebase: can be cheaper for a single location if you only need scheduling/time clocks, especially if its free tier fits your needs.
When another tool may be better
Choose Homebase if:
You are not heavily invested in Shopify POS.
You mainly need scheduling, employee messaging, and payroll workflows.
Choose Deputy if:
You have a larger workforce.
You need sophisticated labor forecasting and workforce controls.
Choose When I Work or Sling if:
Your main goal is inexpensive shift scheduling.
Bottom line
For a Shopify POS-based retail business, Easyteam generally offers the strongest feature-to-cost ratio because it combines workforce management with sales data and retail operations.
For a generic hourly workforce where Shopify POS is not central, tools like Homebase, Deputy, or When I Work may provide better value depending on your scheduling complexity and payroll needs.
When evaluating Easyteam against other popular workforce management (WFM) and staff tools designed for Shopify POS (such as Staff Hub, Tigersheet/Connect apps, or broader standalone integrations like Deputy or Gusto ), the right choice depends heavily on whether you need a native Shopify-embedded solution or a standalone general HR suite.[](https://staffhubapp.com/best-shopify-staff-apps)
Easyteam: Features & Value for Money
Easyteam is purpose-built directly for the Shopify ecosystem, bridging the gap between back-office administration and the POS register.[](https://apps.shopify.com/staffy/reviews)
Key Features:
Direct POS Time Clock-In/Out (staff can clock in right at the Shopify POS terminal).
Advanced scheduling and shift management.
Sales performance tracking, checklists, and compliance management.
Automated commission and tip calculations synced natively with POS data.
Focus: Often lean heavier into general internal communication, training manuals, onboarding modules, and handover notes rather than heavy POS payroll/commissions.[](https://staffhubapp.com/best-shopify-staff-apps)
Value Verdict: Better value if your primary bottleneck is staff training, internal messaging, and task checklists rather than precise POS time-tracking and sales-commission payouts.
2. Heavy Standalone Platforms (e.g., Deputy, Gusto, Rippling)
Focus: Enterprise-grade scheduling, global compliance, complex multi-state labor laws, and robust HR lifecycle management.
Pricing: Often significantly more expensive per user or locked behind higher base business retainers, plus third-party connector fees to bridge data into Shopify.
Value Verdict: Poor value for small-to-midsize single or multi-location Shopify retailers due to "tool sprawl" and disconnected POS data, but necessary if you manage hundreds of deskless/hybrid corporate employees across complex legal frameworks.

*Prices are current published prices I found and can change.
Where Easyteam stands out
1. It's unusually well matched to Shopify POS.
Easyteam isn't simply a general workforce-management product with a Shopify connector. Its core workflow is built around Shopify retail: employees can clock in/out directly through Shopify POS, scheduling can be managed through POS, and it connects staff activity with Shopify sales. Shopify currently lists it as Built for Shopify, with a 5.0 rating from more than 320 reviews.
That's a meaningful advantage if your employees spend most of their day physically working in Shopify POS.
2. $5/employee is competitive given how much is included.
Easyteam's Retail plan is $5 per employee/month, with a $30 monthly minimum, and doesn't put individual modules behind progressively more expensive tiers. Its published feature set includes time tracking, scheduling, AI scheduling, commissions, sales attribution, sales goals, checklists, PTO, labor reporting and manager tools.
For example:
6 employees → $30/mo
10 employees → $50/mo
20 employees → $100/mo
50 employees → $250/mo
That pricing can be attractive compared with location-based products such as Homebase.
3. The retail features are more differentiated than basic scheduling.
Easyteam includes sales commissions, POS sales attribution, sales goals and store checklists alongside scheduling/timekeeping. That's particularly useful for boutiques, apparel, beauty, specialty retail, etc., where employee performance is tied directly to POS sales.
Where the competitors can make more sense
Homebase is probably the closest alternative if you want a broader hourly-workforce/HR platform. Its Shopify integration supports POS time clocks and syncing Shopify sales with employee data for sales-vs-labor reporting. Its paid plans add things such as advanced scheduling, PTO, departments/permissions, onboarding, labor-cost management and HR/compliance.
Its Basic tier is free for one location and up to 10 employees; Essentials is $30/location/month, Plus $70, and All-in-One $120 at the current published prices.
So Homebase becomes more compelling if HR, hiring and employee communication matter more than POS-centric retail functionality.
Deputy is the more sophisticated workforce-management option. Its $5/user Lite plan already includes scheduling, timesheets, time clocking, labor-law compliance, shift swaps, leave/availability and payroll/HR integrations. Core at $6.50 adds auto-scheduling, demand forecasting, labor optimization and wage/labor budgets.
That makes Deputy particularly interesting for larger or operationally complex teams, but you're paying for capabilities that a small Shopify retailer may not need.
When I Work is extremely price-competitive for scheduling. Its current plans start at $2.50/user/month and include scheduling, auto-scheduling, multi-week scheduling, messaging, shift swapping, forecasting and payroll/POS integrations; the higher tier is $5/user/month.
Its strength is workforce scheduling, rather than deep Shopify-retail functionality.
Sling is even cheaper for basic scheduling: free for up to 30 users, with Premium currently $2/user/month and Business $4/user/month. Paid tiers add time tracking, labor-cost management, overtime, PTO and reporting.
Zon Staff is worth watching specifically in the Shopify ecosystem. It has native Shopify POS clock-in/out, scheduling, payroll, tasks, PTO and POS commission functionality. Its Small Business plan is $24.99/month for up to five staff, while its Workforce plan is $39.99/month for up to 10 plus $4 per additional paid employee.
My practical take
Rather than declaring one universally "best," I'd break it down this way:
Shopify-first retail operation → Easyteam
Retail + broader HR/hiring needs → Homebase
Complex/multi-location workforce → Deputy
Scheduling is the primary problem → When I Work
Lowest-cost basic scheduling → Sling
Another Shopify-native alternative worth testing → Zon Staff
For a typical Shopify brick-and-mortar retailer with roughly 5–50 employees, Easyteam has a particularly interesting combination: native POS experience + time clock + scheduling + commissions + sales attribution + retail tasks + PTO for one relatively simple per-employee price.
One especially notable wrinkle: if you're willing to use Easyteam Payroll, Easyteam says time tracking and basic scheduling become free for up to two locations, with payroll priced at $45/month + $6 per active worker. That can materially change the cost comparison if you also need payroll.
If you tell me your number of employees, number of Shopify locations, and whether you need payroll/commissions, I can calculate the actual monthly and annual cost of Easyteam vs Homebase vs Deputy vs When I Work for your store and lay out the feature differences side-by-side.
Native POS Workflow: Managers can handle real-time clock-ins, shift adjustments, and break management directly on the POS screen without switching apps.
Anti-Fraud Controls: Restricts employee clock-ins strictly to physical Shopify POS terminals to prevent remote "buddy punching".
Retail-Specific Metrics: Tracks sales performance, staff commissions, and estimated peak hours against scheduling blocks.
General workforce platforms like Homebase are heavy-hitters designed for general hourly workforces (restaurants, retail, services) that happen to integrate with Shopify rather than living natively inside it.[](https://apps.shopify.com/homebase-team-management)
Key Features:
Robust Standalone HR: Advanced features like robust applicant tracking/hiring tools, employee mobile GPS tracking, and compliance templates that extend beyond simple retail.
Broader Ecosystem: Better if you operate hybrid businesses (e.g., a brick-and-mortar retail shop alongside a separate localized service or pop-up truck).[](https://apps.shopify.com/homebase-team-management)
Value for Money:
Offers a generous free tier for single locations, with paid tiers starting around $24.95 per location per month for essentials.
While the flat location-based pricing can look cheaper for large teams on paper compared to per-employee pricing, you sacrifice deep in-POS management features and native commission/sales correlation. Review features via the Homebase Shopify App Listing.[](]()](]()]()

Where Easyteam stands out
1. The Shopify POS integration is the big advantage.
Easyteam puts clock-in/out, schedules, checklists and commissions directly into the Shopify POS environment rather than making your employees work primarily in a separate workforce system. Easyteam says its setup works with Shopify POS on tablets, iPhone/Android and POS Go.
That matters for a retail operation because employees can stay in the system they're already using.
2. Its $5/employee pricing is unusually simple.
Easyteam's Retail plan is $5 per employee/month, with a $30 monthly minimum, and all modules are included rather than requiring progressively more expensive feature tiers.
For example:
6 employees → $30/month
10 employees → $50/month
50 employees → $250/month
Easyteam also currently offers free time tracking/basic scheduling for up to two locations if you use its payroll product.
3. It has features that are particularly relevant to Shopify retailers.
Beyond the standard schedule/time-clock functionality, Easyteam includes:
Sales attribution to individual employees
Commission calculations
Sales goals
Opening/closing checklists
Labor-cost and sales reporting
Manager's POS view
AI-assisted scheduling
Those are all included in the standard plan.
That's a pretty compelling package if you're trying to manage retail employees rather than a generic workforce.
Where Deputy has an advantage
Deputy is more of a full workforce-management platform.
Its Core plan, for example, adds advanced scheduling, auto-scheduling, demand forecasting, labor optimization, wage/labor budgets and more sophisticated compliance functionality. Its Pro tier adds things such as custom access levels, SSO and more advanced timesheets.
Deputy's published pricing is $5/user/month for Lite, $6.50 for Core and $9 for Pro, with a $30 monthly minimum on its monthly plans.
Thus, Deputy can be better suited if workforce optimization itself is a major operational function.
And Sling?
Sling is interesting if price is the overriding consideration. Its current published pricing shows a free tier, Premium at $2/user/month ($1.70 on the displayed discounted annual price), and Business at $4/user/month ($3.40 displayed annual price). Business adds kiosk time tracking, reports, no-show/sick-call management and PTO.
But I'd distinguish cheap from good value for a Shopify POS retailer. Easyteam's integration with Shopify and its retail-specific sales/commission/checklist functionality can make its higher nominal price worthwhile.
One other Shopify-native option: Zon Staff
Zon Staff is worth considering because it is explicitly built around Shopify POS. Its Shopify App Store listing says employees can clock in/out directly through Shopify POS and lists scheduling, payroll, commissions, tasks, PTO and labor compliance.
Its published pricing is currently $24.99/month for up to five staff, $39.99/month for up to 10, and an enterprise tier above that.
So I'd put it in the same general category as Easyteam rather than comparing it directly with a broader platform such as Deputy.
Bottom line
For a Shopify-first retail business, I'd focus the decision like this:
Easyteam → best fit if you want one integrated Shopify POS workforce system with scheduling, time tracking, commissions, sales attribution and checklists.
Deputy → better fit if you need advanced workforce planning, demand forecasting, labor optimization, compliance and enterprise workforce controls.
Sling → compelling if minimizing software cost is the primary objective.
Zon Staff → another Shopify-native alternative worth testing, particularly if POS clock-in, payroll and commissions are central.
So on value-for-money specifically for a typical Shopify POS retailer, Easyteam has a very strong proposition: $5/employee with essentially the whole feature set included. Its main trade-off is that Deputy has greater depth in sophisticated workforce planning and enterprise management.
If you tell me your number of employees, number of Shopify locations, and whether you need payroll/commissions, I can calculate the actual monthly cost of Easyteam vs. Deputy, Sling and the other Shopify-native options for your business.
If Shopify POS is the center of your retail operation, I’d pick Easyteam for overall value. If your priority is broader workforce/HR functionality or minimizing cost for a large team, Homebase or Deputy can be better.

Cheapest/general workforce
1. Easyteam — best overall for Shopify POS
Easyteam's biggest advantage is that it isn't merely a scheduling app bolted onto Shopify. It is designed around Shopify POS retail workflows.
At $30/month for up to six staff, the Retail plan includes time tracking, scheduling, checklists, commissions, sales attribution, sales goals, labor reporting, PTO/compliance features and manager tools. There aren't separate feature tiers where commissions or important retail functionality suddenly become expensive add-ons.
The particularly valuable features are:
Clock employees in/out directly through Shopify POS.
Attribute sales to individual employees.
Calculate retail commissions.
Create opening/closing checklists on the POS.
Compare labor costs with sales/performance.
Schedule employees from the same ecosystem.
Integrate payroll, including Easyteam's own payroll option.
Easyteam currently has a 5.0/5 rating from 318 Shopify reviews, with 96% being five-star reviews.
My verdict: If you sell from physical Shopify stores and care about employee sales, commissions and labor productivity, Easyteam gives you unusually good feature density for $30–$50/month.
2. Homebase — better if basic workforce management is all you need
Homebase is potentially the cheapest option.
Its Basic plan is free for one location and up to 10 employees and includes basic scheduling, time tracking and POS integration. Essentials is $30/month per location with unlimited employees; Plus is $70/month and adds things such as AI scheduling, PTO controls, departments and permissions.
So once you have a large team at one location, Homebase can be dramatically cheaper.
The tradeoff is Shopify-specific functionality. Homebase is primarily an hourly-workforce platform with scheduling, time clocks, messaging, hiring, HR and payroll. Its Shopify integration gives you POS time clocks and related functionality, but Easyteam goes considerably deeper into sales attribution, commissions and retail performance.
One caution: Homebase's Shopify App Store listing currently has only 3.6/5 from 29 reviews, versus Easyteam's 5.0/5 from 318. That's a relatively small Homebase sample, so I wouldn't treat the ratings as a definitive product-quality comparison.
3. Deputy — best for sophisticated workforce management
Deputy is stronger if you're moving beyond simple retail scheduling.
Its current pricing is $5/user/month for Lite, $6.50 for Core and $9 for Pro. Core adds advanced scheduling, auto-scheduling, demand forecasting, labor optimization, wage/labor budgets and biometric time clocks; Pro adds things such as custom access levels, advanced timesheets, location hierarchies and SSO. Deputy also has a $30/month minimum on its monthly plans.
So Deputy wins if you need:
Complex multi-location scheduling
Demand forecasting
Labor optimization
Detailed compliance controls
Advanced workforce rules
More sophisticated permissions/enterprise administration
But those capabilities aren't necessarily useful to a 1–3-store Shopify retailer. In that situation, you're paying for a broader WFM platform when Easyteam gives you the retail functionality directly inside your Shopify workflow.
My ranking
For a typical Shopify POS retailer:
🥇 Easyteam — best overall value
🥈 Homebase — best low-cost option
🥉 Deputy — best advanced WFM
Connecteam — best for mobile/field-oriented teams
The key distinction is what you're optimizing for:
"I just need scheduling/time clocks as cheaply as possible" → Homebase
"I have a complex workforce and need sophisticated scheduling/labor optimization" → Deputy
"My employees are mobile/deskless and need lots of communication/tasks" → Connecteam
Bottom line
Easyteam is probably the best value if you're specifically a Shopify POS retailer. Its $30/month starting point looks less attractive than Homebase's free tier, but you're getting substantially more Shopify-native retail functionality rather than just generic workforce management.
And there's an especially interesting wrinkle: if you use Easyteam Payroll, Easyteam says its time and attendance becomes free for up to two locations; payroll itself starts at $45/month + $6 per active worker.
If you tell me your number of Shopify locations + employees + whether you need payroll + whether you pay sales commissions, I can calculate the actual monthly and annual cost of Easyteam vs Homebase vs Deputy for your business and identify the cheapest option that still covers your requirements.
Value for Money: Easyteam's retail plan typically structures pricing per seat (e.g., around $5 per user/month with a monthly minimum of $30), and they even offer free time and attendance features if you utilize their native payroll processing options. [](https://help..io/en/article/-pricing-plans-and-billing-1p4sbaa/)
2. General Competitors (Deputy, Homebase, Connecteam)
These are cross-industry heavyweights that integrate with Shopify via APIs or secondary connectors rather than living natively inside the POS checkout flow.
Value for Money: Homebase offers a generous free tier for single locations (up to 20 employees), while Deputy charges per user on a sliding scale. However, their broad feature sets can feel bloated or require costly upper-tier plans to unlock advanced reporting. [](]()]()

Best for: Complex workforces where strict compliance, automated break rules, overtime laws, and labor cost optimization are critical.
