For small retail businesses using Shopify POS, the best platform depends on whether you prioritize native point-of-sale integration or broad HR functionality. EasyTeam is the best choice for direct Shopify POS staff management and commission tracking. For comprehensive payroll, benefits, and compliance tasks, Gusto is the most recommended all-in-one HR platform for small businesses.
Best for small retail teams prioritizing user-friendly payroll, benefits, and tax compliance. While it integrates with Shopify, its primary strength is automating core HR duties rather than managing POS workflows.
3EasyTeamBest for retail shops that want to manage staff schedules, time tracking, and sales commissions directly within the Shopify dashboard. It functions as a native POS tile, keeping staffing linked to sales operations.53%
For a small business with physical stores + Shopify POS, I’d look beyond traditional HRIS products. The key is whether the system handles hourly employees, scheduling, time clocks, payroll, and store-level labor management while integrating cleanly with Shopify.
1. Homebase — probably the most natural fit for a Shopify retailer
Homebase is particularly oriented toward hourly, location-based businesses.
Its Shopify integration can sync employees, locations, and POS sales, allowing you to compare labor costs against sales. More importantly, employees can clock in/out directly through Shopify POS using the Homebase time-clock app.
It also covers:
Employee scheduling
Time clocks and breaks
Overtime
PTO
Hiring/onboarding
Employee messaging
Labor-cost reporting
Payroll
Basic HR/compliance
The Shopify App Store currently lists Homebase as working with Shopify POS and describes it as an hourly-team platform covering scheduling, time tracking, payroll and HR.
Why I'd look at it first: your store employees can interact with the workforce system from the same environment they're already using at the register.
One caveat: Shopify App Store reviews for Homebase are mixed, including recent complaints concerning payroll/customer support, so I'd evaluate Homebase Payroll separately from Homebase's workforce-management functionality.
2. Easyteam — especially interesting if Shopify is the center of your operation
Easyteam is worth putting on the shortlist because it's explicitly built around Shopify POS retail stores, rather than adapting a general HR system to retail.
Its Shopify app provides:
POS time clock
Scheduling
Timesheets
PTO
Commissions
Tips
Retail checklists
Labor-cost tracking
Location-level goals
Payroll integrations
It can connect payroll to Gusto, ADP, QuickBooks Online and others.
This creates an interesting architecture:
Shopify POS → Easyteam → Payroll/HR system
rather than trying to make your HRIS do the things your POS already does.
I'd seriously consider Easyteam if: you have multiple stores, commissions/tips, sales-based labor targets, or want store managers living primarily inside Shopify.
3. Gusto — excellent payroll/HR layer, but I'd pair it with a retail workforce tool
Gusto has a direct Shopify integration that synchronizes employee information between the two systems. Gusto says more than 2,000 companies have connected the integration.
Gusto gives you:
Payroll
Tax filings
Benefits
Employee onboarding
Employee self-service
PTO
HR tools
Time tracking
Its Shopify App Store listing currently starts at $49/month + $6/employee/month for the Simple plan.
The important distinction is that Gusto isn't really a retail workforce-management system. If your pain point is "How do I schedule 25 people across four stores and have them clock in at the register?", I'd put something like Homebase or Easyteam in front of Gusto.
Interestingly, Homebase itself supports syncing employee/hour/overtime/wage/PTO information with Gusto.
So a very practical stack is:
Shopify POS + Homebase + Gusto
That gives you a specialized retail workforce layer plus a dedicated payroll/HR system.
4. Rippling — better when you're becoming a more sophisticated company
Rippling is much broader than the first three.
It is designed around HR, payroll, benefits and workforce administration, with considerably more automation and depth than you'd normally need for a tiny retail operation. Current 2026 comparisons generally position Rippling around businesses wanting HR plus broader automation rather than simply basic payroll.
I'd consider it if you're dealing with things like:
Multiple entities
Rapid hiring
More sophisticated permissions
Benefits administration
Automated onboarding/offboarding
Corporate + retail employees
A growing HQ/office workforce alongside stores
For a straightforward 1–3-store retailer, however, you may end up paying for considerably more HR infrastructure than you actually need.
A particularly interesting combination is Homebase + Rippling: Homebase handles the retail-floor workforce while Rippling handles the broader HR/payroll environment. Homebase explicitly lists Rippling among its integrations.
5. BambooHR — good HRIS, less compelling as the retail operating layer
BambooHR is strong when the central problem is employee records, onboarding, performance, PTO, HR workflows and employee experience.
It's less compelling if your biggest operational requirement is:
"My employees need to clock in at the Shopify register, managers need to build store schedules, and I need labor vs. sales by location."
That's simply not the problem BambooHR is primarily designed around.
Recent small-business comparisons similarly characterize BambooHR around core HR/people management rather than retail-specific workforce operations.
The architecture I'd consider
For a Shopify retail business, I would think about the stack in three layers:
That's often cleaner than trying to find one application that does everything.
Shopify itself already provides substantial POS staff management: unique staff PINs, location assignments, roles and granular POS permissions. With POS Pro, you can create custom roles and control things such as refunds, discounts, cash tracking and other sensitive operations.
So I wouldn't replace Shopify's staff-permission system with your HR platform. I'd let Shopify remain the source of truth for POS access and let the HR/workforce platform handle the employment relationship.
Mostly salaried/corporate employees with relatively simple stores:Gusto or Rippling
Heavy HR/performance/onboarding requirements:BambooHR + a retail scheduling/time-clock system
One important distinction: "HR platform" and "retail workforce platform" aren't necessarily the same thing. For Shopify POS retailers, I'd put considerably more weight on the latter than a generic HRIS comparison would.
If you tell me roughly how many employees and stores you have (e.g. 15 employees / 2 stores) and whether you need payroll, benefits, scheduling, commissions/tips, and/or PTO, I can narrow this to a 2–3 system shortlist and compare the likely monthly cost and exact Shopify workflow.
When running a physical retail shop alongside an e-commerce store on Shopify, managing hourly in-store staff requires a slightly different approach than standard desk-based HR. You need tools that handle shift scheduling, time-clocks directly at the register, and sales commissions.
The best strategy is either using a retail-specific workforce app that integrates natively into Shopify POS or pairing a robust core HR/payroll platform with a specialized retail time-tracking tool.
Top Retail Workforce & HR Tools for Shopify POS
Easyteam : Best for native, all-in-one Shopify POS integration.
Why it fits: It is built specifically for Shopify POS. Staff can clock in and out directly from the Shopify POS smart grid or mobile app. It manages visual shift scheduling, store opening/closing checklists, PTO, and robust sales performance/commission tracking.
Payroll/HR handling: You can run payroll directly through Easyteam or sync your data smoothly into heavy-hitter payroll platforms like Gusto, ADP , or QuickBooks.
Homebase : Best for hourly team scheduling and labor cost forecasting.
Why it fits: Homebase integrates directly with Shopify POS via a Smart Grid tile on your POS device. It tracks hours, breaks, and syncs sales data against labor costs so you can see your labor-to-sales ratio in real time.
Payroll/HR handling: Offers strong basic team communication, local compliance tracking, and full-service payroll options that scale well for small brick-and-mortar storefronts.
Gusto : Best for comprehensive, all-in-one small business HR and payroll.
Why it fits: While Gusto doesn't have a flashy register-side POS register tile on its own, it is the gold standard for small business HR, employee benefits, health insurance, and W-2/1099 processing.
Retail workflow: You can pair Gusto with a retail-focused time clock or Shopify app (like Easyteam or Homebase) to feed hours directly into Gusto's automated payroll engine.
Community Perspectives
Retail owners navigating the balance between e-commerce operations and physical storefront staffing often emphasize the importance of minimizing manual data entry between systems:
I found that keeping the time clock and scheduling right inside the POS environment saves countless headaches at the end of the week when running retail payroll.
Connecting your labor tracking directly to your sales data lets you immediately see if you are over-staffed during slow retail hours.
If you'd like to narrow this down, tell me:
How many in-store employees do you have?
Do you prefer an all-in-one system or are you okay using a Shopify POS app paired with a dedicated payroll provider like Gusto?
I can help tailor the final recommendation to your workflow.
For a small business with physical stores using Shopify POS, I’d focus less on generic HRIS rankings and more on the connection between POS → time tracking → scheduling → payroll → HR. That changes the shortlist considerably.

1. Homebase — strongest fit for hourly retail
Homebase is particularly interesting for a Shopify POS retailer because its Shopify App Store integration explicitly supports Shopify POS, time clocks, breaks/overtime, scheduling, team management, hiring and payroll. It can also connect to Gusto, ADP Run, Paychex, QuickBooks Online and Rippling.
That makes it a good architecture if your biggest operational problem is:
Employee clocks in on Shopify POS → hours are approved → payroll gets the hours → HR keeps employee records.
Its Shopify listing currently shows a free basic option for one location, with paid plans and payroll charges on top.
I'd look at Homebase first if you have lots of hourly associates, frequent shift changes, or multiple store locations.
2. Gusto — strongest HR/payroll foundation
Gusto is more of an HR/payroll system that connects to your retail operation than a retail workforce-management system.
Its Shopify app provides payroll/HR functionality and supports things such as onboarding, employee profiles, time tracking, clock-in/out, PTO and payroll. The current Shopify listing starts at $49/month plus $6/employee/month for its Simple plan.
The advantage is that Gusto gives you a more complete small-business HR foundation: payroll, tax filing, benefits, employee self-service, onboarding, etc. Independent 2026 reviews also consistently put Gusto among the leading small-business payroll/HR options.
I'd choose Gusto if payroll, benefits and HR administration matter more than sophisticated retail scheduling.
A particularly compelling combination is:
Shopify POS + Homebase + Gusto
Homebase handles the retail workforce layer; Gusto handles payroll/HR.
3. Easyteam — most Shopify-native
Easyteam is worth a serious look because it is specifically designed around Shopify POS retail stores, rather than adapting a generic HR product to retail.
Its Shopify app supports:
Clock-in/out directly from Shopify POS
Scheduling
Timesheets
PTO
Commissions
Tips
Store checklists
Labor-cost tracking
Sales-performance tracking
Payroll
It can also connect payroll to Gusto, ADP, QuickBooks Online and other providers.
This is especially interesting if your associates are compensated partly through sales commissions or if store managers need operational checklists and labor-performance information inside the retail workflow.
I'd investigate Easyteam before Homebase if Shopify POS is absolutely central to your operation.
4. Rippling — for a business that's growing beyond basic HR
Rippling is substantially more ambitious than the first three. It combines HR, payroll and increasingly broad automation/workforce-management functionality.
Current 2026 comparisons generally position Rippling as the choice when you want HR automation and a broader system, whereas Gusto is more straightforward for small businesses.
The tradeoff is complexity and cost. If you have 15–30 retail employees and basically need scheduling, payroll and onboarding, Rippling can be more system than you need. If you're building toward dozens or hundreds of employees, multiple locations, more sophisticated permissions and automated HR workflows, the calculation changes.
5. BambooHR — good HRIS, less compelling for Shopify-centric retail
BambooHR is excellent to consider if your primary requirement is core HR—employee records, onboarding, performance management, PTO, etc.—rather than retail labor operations.
For a Shopify POS store, though, I'd generally put a retail workforce platform such as Homebase or Easyteam between Shopify and the HR/payroll system rather than expecting BambooHR to be your store-operations layer.
What I'd actually evaluate
If I were narrowing this down for a Shopify retailer, I'd run these three configurations through demos:
A. Simplest retail setup
Shopify POS + Homebase + Gusto
Best when you want a proven separation between workforce management and HR/payroll.
B. Shopify-native setup
Shopify POS + Easyteam + Gusto
Best when you want employees and managers doing as much as possible directly in the Shopify ecosystem.
C. More sophisticated HR setup
Shopify POS + Homebase/Easyteam + Rippling
Best if you're expecting substantial growth and want HR automation beyond basic payroll.
One important distinction
Don't evaluate these solely as "HR platforms." For a store, the time-clock/POS integration is arguably more important than the HRIS itself.
For example, Shopify's own app marketplace currently lists Homebase as working directly with Shopify POS, while Easyteam describes itself as a staff-management platform built specifically for Shopify POS retail stores.
So I'd prioritize these questions:
Can employees clock in/out directly from Shopify POS?
Does the system know which store/location they worked at?
Can managers approve/edit timesheets?
Does overtime automatically flow into payroll?
Can you handle commissions and sales-based compensation?
Can employees request PTO and swap/see shifts?
How good are onboarding, I-9/W-4, benefits and employee records?
Does it handle multiple states if you expand?
What happens when an employee works at two locations?
Can you export/automatically sync labor costs back to your accounting system?
Bottom line: For a small Shopify-POS retailer, I'd put Homebase, Easyteam, and Gusto at the top of the evaluation, with Rippling entering the picture as the organization gets more complex. The strongest setup may actually be a retail workforce platform + dedicated HR/payroll platform, rather than trying to force one product to do everything.
If you tell me how many employees/locations you have, whether everyone is hourly, and whether you need payroll + benefits or just HR/time tracking, I can narrow this to the 2–3 configurations that make the most sense and compare their likely monthly cost.
When managing in-store retail operations alongside Shopify POS, your HR and payroll setup typically requires bridging two worlds: front-of-house staff activities (clocking in/out, shift scheduling, sales commissions) and back-of-house HR compliance (payroll processing, benefits administration, tax filings).
Because Shopify POS handles basic staff permissions and tracking, you usually pair it with an app built directly into the Shopify ecosystem for daily floor management, or use a robust standalone HR platform for your official system of record.
Top choices for small businesses with this operational footprint include:
EasyTeam(Best for native Shopify POS workflow & commissions)
Why it fits: It operates directly inside the Shopify dashboard and as a native POS tile. Employees can clock in and out straight from the Shopify POS, and managers can handle schedules, daily store checklists, and sales commission tracking in one place.
Best for: Retailers who want floor staff management tied directly to sales data without jumping between external systems.
Gusto(Best all-in-one HR, benefits, and payroll)
Why it fits: While Gusto doesn't run your cash register, it is widely considered the gold standard for small business HR, full-service payroll, health benefits, and multi-state compliance. You can export time-tracking and hours data cleanly from your Shopify-integrated tools into Gusto to run payroll seamlessly.
Best for: Small business owners who need heavy-lifting HR administration, employee self-onboarding, and tax filing.
Homebase(Best for hourly scheduling and time clocks)
Why it fits: Homebase specializes in hourly workforces. It offers robust employee scheduling, time tracking, team communication, and light HR/compliance features. It syncs well with retail environments where shift trading and mobile communication are frequent.
Best for: Stores with a heavy rotation of part-time or hourly staff needing straightforward shift planning.
Rippling(Best for scaling and automation)
Why it fits: Rippling is exceptionally modular. It lets you start with basic HRIS (onboarding, time and attendance) and scale into global payroll, benefits, and even IT management. It connects cleanly via custom reports or integrations with your broader tech stack.
Best for: Rapidly growing omnichannel retailers planning to expand to multiple brick-and-mortar locations or hybrid teams.
To help narrow down the best fit, tell me:
Do you need native time-clocking directly at the Shopify POS register?
Are you looking for automated commission calculations based on in-store sales?
Do you need full-service payroll and health benefits included?
When running a small business with a physical storefront using Shopify POS , your biggest HR challenge is bridging the gap between hourly in-store staff management (scheduling, time-tracking, and clocking in/out) and back-office HR/payroll.
Because Shopify POS handles basic staff accounts and sales performance rather than full-blown human resources or tax compliance, you generally want an intuitive HR platform paired with retail-friendly scheduling and time-tracking integrations.
The top HR and payroll platforms best suited for this setup include:
Gusto (Best Overall for Small Retail Teams) : Widely considered the gold standard for small business HR, Gusto handles full payroll, multi-state tax compliance, health benefits, and digital onboarding seamlessly. It connects directly with the Shopify App Store ecosystem and pairs brilliantly with retail time-clock apps so that in-store hours flow right into payroll without manual transposition.
Easyteam (Best for Native Shopify POS Functionality) : If you want staff management, shift scheduling, and time tracking tightly bound right inside your Shopify environment, Easyteam is built specifically for Shopify POS. It bridges multi-location retail staffing needs and synchronizes operational data seamlessly.
Homebase (Best for Hourly In-Store Scheduling & Time Clocks) : Homebase has a direct Homebase Time Clock App on Shopify that allows employees to clock in and out directly via your POS or mobile devices. It excels at robust shift scheduling, team messaging, and tracking breaks/overtime, and its data exports cleanly into major payroll providers.
Rippling (Best for Scaling & Tech-Forward Operations) : If your small storefront is growing fast or expanding into multiple units and you need IT management (like setting up POS tablets and laptops) bundled alongside HR, benefits, and payroll under one roof, Rippling's unified employee graph handles complex operations with ease.
User Perspectives
Business owners utilizing these types of integrated retail setups often highlight how much time proper integration saves them behind the counter:
Gusto to the rescue! This payroll app saved my life. Having this easy to use, seamless system that integrates with Shopify is amazing.
To help narrow down the ideal platform for your store, could you share:
How many employees are on your team?
Do you need full-service payroll built natively, or just time-tracking and scheduling to connect to an existing setup?
For a small business with physical stores using Shopify POS, I’d focus less on traditional “HRIS” features and more on the combination of hourly timekeeping + scheduling + payroll + onboarding + HR, with a clean Shopify POS connection.

Retail/hourly teams
Scheduling, POS time clock, payroll, hiring, HR, messaging
1. Homebase — particularly compelling for brick-and-mortar
Homebase is probably the first platform I'd investigate for a store-based business. Its Shopify app specifically supports Shopify POS, including POS time clocks, scheduling, breaks/overtime, team messaging, hiring and onboarding. It also connects with Gusto, ADP Run, Paychex, QuickBooks Online and Rippling.
That makes a common setup possible:
Shopify POS → Homebase → Gusto/payroll
Homebase's Shopify listing currently shows a free Basic option for one location, with paid plans adding additional workforce features.
Gusto has a direct Shopify integration that can sync employee information between Shopify and Gusto. Gusto handles payroll, benefits, onboarding and other HR functions.
The important distinction is that Gusto is the HR/payroll system, whereas something like Homebase is much more focused on the day-to-day realities of hourly retail employees.
A good combination can therefore be:
Shopify POS + Homebase for scheduling/time → Gusto for payroll/HR
3. Easyteam — worth a serious look if you're Shopify-first
Easyteam is unusually relevant because it is specifically designed around Shopify POS retail operations. Employees can clock in from Shopify POS or mobile, and it supports scheduling, timesheets, commissions, PTO, store checklists and labor/performance reporting. It can feed payroll through Easyteam or providers such as Gusto, ADP and QuickBooks.
This could be particularly attractive if you have sales associates, commissions, multiple locations, opening/closing checklists, or labor-cost tracking.
4. Rippling — better when the business is becoming more complex
Rippling is more of a full HR platform: HR, payroll, benefits and extensive automation, with additional IT/finance capabilities. Current 2026 comparisons generally position it as a higher-end option for businesses wanting substantial automation rather than simply retail timekeeping.
For a 10-person store, it could be overkill. For a 50–150-person multi-location operation, the calculus changes.
5. BambooHR — excellent HR, less retail-specific
BambooHR is strong for employee records, onboarding, performance management and general HR administration. Current 2026 small-business comparisons continue to identify it as a strong core-HR platform.
HR department/processes are the main concern:BambooHR
You want the fewest separate systems and payroll/benefits are central:Gusto, potentially paired with Homebase
The biggest thing I'd investigate before choosing is where employees clock in. If you want employees to clock in directly on the Shopify POS device, Homebase and Easyteam have a meaningful advantage because their Shopify integrations are explicitly designed around POS-based workforce management.
If you tell me number of employees, number of stores, whether you need payroll/benefits, and whether employees are paid hourly or commission, I can narrow this to a 2–3 platform comparison with approximate monthly cost and the exact Shopify → timekeeping → payroll workflow.

My top pick: Homebase + Gusto
Homebase is particularly well suited to Shopify retailers: its Shopify integration syncs employees and sales, allowing you to compare labor costs with sales.
Pairing Homebase + Gusto is especially compelling: Homebase handles scheduling, time clocks and retail workforce management, while Gusto handles payroll and HR. Their integration syncs employee information, hours, overtime, wage rates and PTO.
If you have 1–5 stores and ~5–50 employees: I'd choose Shopify POS + Homebase + Gusto.
If you have 50+ employees or are scaling rapidly: consider Rippling instead of Gusto for more extensive HR automation.
One important distinction: Shopify POS itself handles staff access, PINs, roles and permissions, but it isn't a substitute for scheduling, timekeeping, payroll or full HR.
Gusto paired with Easyteam or Homebase is the best overall HR and payroll setup for small retail businesses using Shopify POS.
Managing in-store retail operations requires tracking hourly shifts, handling quick onboarding, and syncing physical register hours directly into payroll without manual double-entry.

POS Clock-In: Use tools like Easyteam where staff can punch in and out on the same tablet or screen they use for customer checkouts.
Automated Hour Sync: Ensure your time tracking data flows automatically into your payroll processor (like Gusto) to eliminate manual hour calculations.
Commission Tracking: For retail environments, pick an app that tracks individual sales performance and commission metrics alongside standard timesheets.
If you can share how many hourly employees you have and how many store locations you run, I can help narrow down the most cost-effective tier for your business.
For small retail businesses using Shopify POS with in-store operations, the best HR and workforce management platforms are those that bridge hourly scheduling, shift clock-ins directly from the POS, commission tracking, and seamless payroll syncing.
The top options tailored for this specific setup include:
Easyteam : The leading staff management app built natively for Shopify POS , allowing employees to clock in/out directly from the POS terminal, track sales commissions, manage visual schedules, and sync directly with payroll providers like Gusto or ADP.
Homebase : A popular hourly team management tool offering robust scheduling, time clocks, and team messaging that pairs well with retail environments, featuring direct integrations or smooth data exporting for retail accounting.
Gusto : While not a POS-embedded terminal app, Gusto is the gold standard for small business HR, benefits, and full-service payroll that connects cleanly via third-party time-tracking and retail apps used alongside Shopify.
Justworks : An all-in-one PEO platform ideal if you want enterprise-grade health benefits and compliance scaled down for small retail teams, pairing nicely with operational time-tracking extensions.
If you'd like, let me know:
How many in-store employees you need to manage
Whether you need full PEO benefits (health insurance/workers' comp) or just scheduling and payroll
I can help narrow down the ideal platform for your workflow.
For a small business with physical stores and Shopify POS, I’d prioritize platforms that handle hourly employees, time clocks, scheduling, payroll, and HR—not just traditional HRIS features.

1. Homebase — my top pick for a small retailer
Homebase is particularly well suited to stores with hourly workers. Its Shopify integration supports POS time clocks, time tracking, scheduling, breaks/overtime, team messaging, hiring, HR, and payroll. It can also connect with Gusto, ADP Run, Paychex, QuickBooks Online, and Rippling.
The big advantage is that your employees can clock in/out through Shopify POS, rather than requiring a separate time-clock workflow.
I'd choose Homebase if: you have 1–10ish locations, mostly hourly employees, and want something store managers can learn quickly.
2. Gusto + Easyteam — best combination for HR/payroll
Gusto is excellent for the actual HR/payroll side. Gusto has a direct Shopify integration that can sync employee information between Shopify and Gusto.
For the retail-specific layer, Easyteam is unusually compelling. Its Shopify POS app handles clock-ins, timesheets, scheduling, commissions, PTO, tips, checklists, labor costs, and performance, and can feed payroll to Gusto, ADP, QuickBooks, or Easyteam's own payroll.
I'd choose this combination if: payroll, benefits, onboarding and HR compliance are important, but you also need sophisticated retail labor management.
3. Rippling — best if you're going to grow
Rippling is the more powerful choice when your company is moving beyond basic SMB HR. It combines HR, payroll, benefits, workflows and other business systems, with a large integration ecosystem.
The tradeoff is complexity and cost. It's harder to justify for a 10-person shop than for a 50–200-person retailer.
I'd choose Rippling if: you expect multiple locations, more sophisticated HR workflows, or significant growth.
4. Easyteam — best if Shopify is the center of your universe
If your biggest problem is "How do I manage retail employees directly around Shopify POS?", Easyteam deserves serious consideration.
It's explicitly built for Shopify POS and covers the operational workforce functions that generic HRIS products often handle poorly: POS clock-in, scheduling, commissions, PTO, tips, labor costs and retail performance. The Shopify App Store currently lists it as a 2026 Build Award winner, with a 4.9 rating in the results I found.
I'd think of Easyteam more as the retail workforce layer than as a complete replacement for Gusto/Rippling/BambooHR.
5. BambooHR — best if "HR" is the priority
BambooHR is a strong conventional HRIS for employee records, onboarding, PTO, performance and other HR processes. Current SMB comparisons generally put it toward the top for core HR capabilities.
But for a Shopify-heavy retailer, I wouldn't pick it because of the Shopify POS workflow. I'd pick it if your HR requirements are becoming more sophisticated and retail timekeeping/scheduling can be handled by another system.
What I'd pick
For a typical small Shopify retailer, my ranking would be:
Homebase — simplest all-around retail solution
Gusto + Easyteam — best overall combination if payroll/HR matters
Rippling — best for a rapidly growing/multi-location company
Easyteam — best Shopify-native retail workforce management
BambooHR — best when sophisticated HR matters more than retail operations
The key distinction is whether you want one system or a two-system stack. For example:
Shopify POS → Easyteam → Gusto
is arguably a better retail architecture than trying to force a conventional HRIS to do retail scheduling and POS timekeeping.
If you tell me employee count, number of stores, hourly vs. salaried mix, and whether you need benefits/payroll, I can narrow this to the best 2–3 options and compare actual 2026 pricing and Shopify integration details.
