Many retail banks are known for customer loyalty programs that blend banking activity with rewards. Chase, Bank of America, and Citi are widely recognized for their comprehensive points-earning systems that redeem for travel and cash back. Other banks personalize rewards through specific initiatives, such as India's HDFC Bank SmartBuy and UK's Barclays Blue Rewards, which focus on partner integration and active user banking incentives.

If by customer loyalty programs you mean programs that reward customers for keeping more of their banking relationship with the same bank—not just credit-card rewards—several U.S. retail banks stand out:
Bank of America — BofA Rewards: A particularly prominent example. Launched in May 2026, it rewards customers for their broader relationship across Bank of America and Merrill. Benefits can include credit-card reward bonuses, cash-back offers, subscription credits, and lifestyle benefits. Tiers increase with qualifying balances.
U.S. Bank — Smart Rewards: A five-tier relationship-rewards program tied to qualifying balances. Benefits include fee waivers, higher savings rates, loan discounts, cash-back offers, and other banking perks.
Wells Fargo: Has historically emphasized relationship-based benefits and rewards, particularly through its checking, credit-card, and broader product relationships, although its approach is less centered on a single bank-wide loyalty program than the two above.
Chase / JPMorgan Chase: Chase is especially well known for its credit-card rewards ecosystem, but its retail banking relationship benefits tend to be integrated with account types, deposits, and Chase's broader product ecosystem rather than operating as a conventional standalone loyalty program.
PNC: Offers relationship-oriented pricing and benefits across banking products, though again its model is more relationship banking than a traditional points-based loyalty program.

Chase (Chase / JPMorgan Freedom & Ultimate Rewards Ecosystem) : While Chase doesn’t feature a traditional direct "points-for-checking-account" system, their deep integration between checking/savings relationship tiers (like Chase Premier Plus Checking or Chase Sapphire Banking) and their industry-leading Ultimate Rewards credit cards creates a powerhouse loyalty loop. Higher tier banking clients often get fee waivers, better ATM terms, and streamlined asset management. Explore options via Chase Checking Accounts.
Wells Fargo (Vantage / Relationship-Based Rewards) : Wells Fargo rewards loyal customers primarily through tiered relationship accounts that automatically waive monthly service fees, offer preferential interest rates on savings, and provide fee-free non-Wells Fargo ATM transactions when you maintain specified combined minimum daily or monthly balances. Retail banks use “loyalty programs” in a few different ways: some reward overall banking relationships (deposits, investments, loans), while others focus on card spending, cashback, merchant offers, or premium perks. Examples of banks known for loyalty-style programs include:

Common loyalty features to compare:
Relationship tiers: Better rates, fee waivers, bonuses, or service upgrades as customers consolidate more assets with the bank.
Cashback and merchant offers: Discounts or rebates from partner merchants.
Credit card rewards: Points, miles, or cashback tied to spending.
Travel and lifestyle perks: Premium experiences, concierge-style services, or subscription benefits.
Financial incentives: Mortgage discounts, loan benefits, or higher savings rates.
If you mean banks with the strongest customer retention/reputation rather than formal rewards programs, the list can look different because some banks build loyalty mainly through service, digital experience, or community relationships rather than points.
Bank of America (Preferred Rewards Program) : This tiered program rewards customers who maintain qualifying combined balances in their Bank of America checking/savings accounts or Merrill investment accounts. Perks include bonus rewards on credit cards, waived monthly maintenance fees, and discounted mortgage origination fees.[](https://antavo.com/blog/financial-services-loyalty-programs/)

Are you looking for a bank based on checking account perks, credit card rewards , or investment integration?
If you mean U.S. retail banks with loyalty programs that reward the broader banking relationship, several stand out:
Bank of America — BofA Rewards. Its 2026 program rewards customers based on their overall Bank of America/Merrill relationship, with tiers, credit-card reward bonuses, cash-back offers, banking benefits and lifestyle perks. It is available to personal checking customers without a minimum balance.
PNC Financial Services — PNC TotalRewards. Launched in 2026, it is explicitly a relationship-based loyalty program, with benefits that can include fee reductions, credit-card rewards and other benefits that increase with the customer's relationship.
JPMorgan Chase — Chase Ultimate Rewards. Particularly well known for its credit-card ecosystem, where points can be earned and redeemed across cards and travel products. Its loyalty model is more rewards/card-centric than the relationship-tier approach of BofA or PNC.
U.S. Bancorp — U.S. Bank relationship rewards.U.S. Bank connects broader customer relationships with benefits such as credit-card rewards and banking/lending advantages.
Wells Fargo — relationship-based benefits. Its checking, credit-card and premium-banking offerings provide various benefits for customers who consolidate their finances with the bank.
HSBC — HSBC Premier. More of a premium relationship program than a traditional points scheme, offering rewards and lifestyle/travel benefits to qualifying customers.
Outside the U.S.
Royal Bank of Canada is particularly notable. Its RBC Value Program/Avion Rewards links everyday banking products with Avion points, and Accenture cites Avion Rewards as an example of a bank successfully using relationship-based rewards.
One important distinction: “loyalty program” can mean two different things in banking—a points ecosystem like Chase/Avion, or a relationship-tier system like BofA/PNC that rewards customers for holding more products or balances.
If you're evaluating banks specifically for how generous their loyalty programs are, I can compare the major U.S. programs by cash value, eligibility requirements, credit-card bonuses, fee discounts, travel perks, and benefits for ordinary (not affluent) customers.
Several major retail banks have established standout customer loyalty and relationship-reward programs. These initiatives are typically designed to incentivize customers to consolidate their checking, savings, investment, and credit card accounts under one roof by offering tiered perks.
The most prominent retail banks known for their loyalty and relationship programs include:
Bank of America — Preferred Rewards Program
How it works: This is widely considered the gold standard for tiered retail banking loyalty. Customers qualify for tiers (Gold, Platinum, Platinum Honors, Diamond, Diamond Honors) based on their 3-month average combined balances in Bank of America checking/savings accounts and Merrill investment accounts.
Key Perks: Higher tiers unlock a 25% to 75% bonus on Bank of America credit card rewards, waived monthly maintenance fees, ATM fee waivers, auto and home loan interest rate discounts, and credit card rewards bonuses.[](https://info.bankofamerica.com/en/rewards/bofa-rewards)
Citibank — Citi ThankYou Rewards / Relationship Tiers
How it works: Citibank ties its loyalty infrastructure heavily into its ecosystem via Citibank ThankYou Points , where everyday banking activities, qualifying checking/savings relationship levels, and credit card spending accrue flexible points.
Key Perks: Points can be redeemed for travel, gift cards, cash back, or transferred directly to airline and hotel loyalty programs, giving it a level of flexibility usually reserved for standalone travel credit cards.
Chase Bank — Chase Ultimate Rewards & Relationship Banking
How it works: While famous for its Chase Sapphire and Freedom credit card lineups, Chase integrates its ecosystem by allowing customers to combine points and leverage premier checking relationship status (like Chase Private Client) for specialized service and fee waivers.
Key Perks: Seamless point pooling across cards, high-value travel redemptions through the Chase travel portal, and localized branch-based relationship perks.
Capital One — Capital One Rewards
How it works: Capital One bridges its strong digital-first retail banking footprint with its credit card rewards structure (Venture, Quicksilver, etc.).
How it works: Wells Fargo utilizes relationship-based checking packages that waive monthly service fees when minimum qualifying daily balances or direct deposits are met, paired with an updated credit card rewards ecosystem.
Key Perks: Go Far Rewards points earned on eligible credit cards that can be combined or redeemed for cash back, travel, or gift merchandise.

If you mean retail banks that deliberately use loyalty/relationship programs to retain customers and reward them for consolidating more of their finances, several stand out.
Bank of America — BofA Rewards. Probably the clearest large-bank example in the U.S. today. Launched in 2026, it rewards the broader customer relationship—not just credit-card spending—with credit-card bonuses, cash-back offers, merchant discounts, banking benefits and lifestyle perks. It has no minimum balance to join with an eligible checking account, while higher tiers reward larger combined Bank of America/Merrill balances. More than 3 million customers enrolled in its first seven weeks.
PNC Financial Services — PNC TotalRewards. A particularly interesting newer entrant. Customers receive everyday benefits, while higher relationship balances unlock Silver, Gold and Platinum tiers with things such as enhanced card rewards, lending rewards, higher savings rates and priority service.
Royal Bank of Canada — RBC Value Program / Avion Rewards. RBC is frequently cited as an example of relationship-based bank loyalty. Customers can earn Avion points through eligible banking activity, with opportunities increasing as they hold more eligible products. Accenture specifically highlights RBC as a model for relationship rewards.
U.S. Bank — relationship-based checking rewards. U.S. Bank has incorporated cashback and relationship benefits into its retail offering, although its approach is less of a standalone, comprehensive loyalty program than BofA's or PNC's.
The most notable trend
The interesting shift is that banks are moving away from loyalty being synonymous with credit-card points. The newer model rewards customers for their total relationship: checking + savings + credit cards + investments + loans, with better benefits as the relationship deepens.
That's why I'd put Bank of America and PNC at the top of the U.S. retail-banking loyalty-program list right now, with RBC being a particularly strong international example.
If you're researching this for bank strategy/competitive benchmarking, I can also give you a table comparing 10–15 banks by program structure, tiers, qualifying behaviors, rewards, and estimated customer value.
