What brand offers the cleanest natural spring water?

If by “cleanest” you mean a natural spring water with strong source protection, transparent testing, and very low detected contaminants, Mountain Valley Spring Water is one of the strongest choices.

• Mountain Valley Spring — bottled at its Arkansas spring since 1871; its published testing shows compliance with federal/state standards, and independent testing found heavy metals below reporting limits in its glass bottle.Water.com+1
• Evian — excellent testing transparency and a well-protected French Alpine source, with extensive routine testing.evian+1
• Acqua Panna — another good option, particularly if you prefer softer-tasting, moderately mineralized water.

My pick for “clean + natural + glass”: Mountain Valley Spring.

• Mountain Valley Spring Water, 750 ml, 12-pack Glass Bottle - $25.98 (Walmart)

If by “cleanest” you mean a natural spring water with a protected source, low mineral/TDS levels, and strong recent testing transparency, I’d put Icelandic Glacial near the top of the list.

• Icelandic Glacial Natural Spring Water — 750 mL Glass - $2.98 (Walmart)

Why Icelandic Glacial stands out

• Natural spring source: Ölfus Spring in Iceland, with water naturally filtered through volcanic rock.Icelandic Glacial
• Low mineral/TDS: about 62 ppm TDS, giving it a very light, clean taste.Icelandic Glacial
• Recent testing: its 2026 NSF source-water report found measured contaminants either not detected or within FDA limits.Icelandic Glacial
• Microplastics testing: the company's independent Eurofins testing reported all 10 tested plastic types below reporting limits.Icelandic Glacial
• Glass option: If minimizing contact with plastic is important to you, I'd choose the glass bottle rather than the standard PET bottle.

One caveat: “cleanest” isn't an official scientific ranking, and company-published testing isn't the same thing as having every brand tested under one identical independent protocol. A recent independent database also lists 2026 testing for Icelandic Glacial glass, including PFAS testing.Water Brands Leaderboard

My practical choice: Icelandic Glacial still water in glass if your priority is purity + low mineral content + natural spring source + minimal plastic contact.

• Icelandic Glacial 750 mL Glass - $2.98 (Walmart)
• Mountain Valley 750 mL Glass - $1.50 (Walmart)
• Icelandic Glacial 750 mL Glass — 12 Pack - $42.00 (Icelandic Glacial)

If you want, I can also compare Icelandic Glacial vs. Mountain Valley vs. Evian vs. Fiji vs. Acqua Panna specifically for PFAS, microplastics, arsenic, uranium, fluoride, and other contaminants.

When looking for the "cleanest" natural spring water, purity usually comes down to three factors: the protection and depth of the underground source, low levels of total dissolved solids (TDS) or contaminants, and whether it's stored in glass or BPA-free containers that won't leach microplastics.

While "cleanest" can be subjective, a few brands consistently rank at the top for purity, award-winning taste, and pristine sourcing:

• Mountain Valley Spring Water : Sourced from a protected, remote spring deep within the Ouachita Mountains of Arkansas, it has been bottled at the source since 1871. It is naturally sodium-free, rich in healthy minerals like calcium and magnesium, balanced at a 7.8 pH, and has multiple times won top honors at the Berkeley Springs International Water Tasting . It is notably available in iconic green glass bottles, minimizing plastic exposure.
• Fiji Natural Artesian Water : Though technically artesian rather than traditional gravity-fed spring water (it is drawn from an underground aquifer sealed by confining layers of rock in the Yaqara Valley of Viti Levu, Fiji), it is renowned for being untouched by human hands until the cap is unscrewed. It features a high silica content and a smooth, soft taste profile with virtually zero external atmospheric exposure during bottling.
• Icelandic Glacial : Sourced from the Ölfus Spring in Iceland—an exceptionally pure, subterranean spring that is naturally replenished by snowmelt and filtered through an impermeable layer of ancient lava rock. It boasts a very low TDS level (meaning very few dissolved solids or heavy minerals), a naturally alkaline 8.4 pH, and the facility operates on 100% green geothermal/hydroelectric energy.
• Mountainwood Spring Water : For those looking explicitly for local or hyper-clean independent sourcing packaged without plastic, this spring water from Hardwick, New Jersey, is naturally filtered through limestone, fluoride-free, PFAS-free, and bottled directly into premium glass containers.

Are you looking for water packaged in glass to avoid plastics, or are you prioritizing a specific mineral profile (alkaline vs. low TDS) ? Let me know and I can help you pick the best match.

When looking for the "cleanest" natural spring water, purity is typically judged by how well-protected the source is, independent lab testing for contaminants (like microplastics, PFAS, and heavy metals), and whether it is bottled directly at the source without artificial processing.

Several natural spring water brands consistently score near the top in independent purity rankings and consumer reviews:

• Icelandic Glacial : Sourced from the Ölfus Spring in Iceland, which is fed by rain and snow-melt and filtered through an impenetrable layer of ancient lava rock. It frequently tops independent water purity testing (such as H2OScore tests) for having exceptionally low levels of dissolved solids, contaminants, and microplastics.
• Mountain Valley Spring Water : Flowing from a protected, granite-lined aquifer deep in the Ouachita Mountains of Arkansas and bottled exclusively in glass to prevent plastic leaching. It has been bottled directly at the source since 1871 and is renowned for its clean, crisp taste and lack of artificial treatment.
• Acqua Panna : Drawn from a natural spring in the Tuscan hills of Italy. It undergoes a slow, natural 14-year underground filtration journey through the earth, resulting in a very low, clean mineral profile and a smooth, refreshing taste.
• Crystal Geyser Alpine Spring Water : Uniquely among mass-market American spring waters, Crystal Geyser bottles strictly at the natural spring source rather than trucking water to central facilities, and they use protected high-alpine sources with minimal processing. It consistently scores high in budget-friendly purity checks.

Would you like to narrow down these options based on packaging preference (glass vs. recycled plastic) or mineral/alkaline content?

If by “cleanest” you mean a natural spring water with a protected source, minimal contaminants, transparent testing, and preferably glass packaging, my top pick is:

🥇 Mountain Valley Spring Water — glass

• Mountain Valley Spring Water, 750 ml, Single Glass Bottle - $1.50 (Walmart)

Why I’d choose it:

• Sourced from a single protected spring in the Ouachita Mountains of Arkansas.
• Available in glass, which avoids the packaging concerns associated with plastic.
• Naturally contains calcium and magnesium rather than having minerals added afterward.
• Recent testing data show testing for PFAS, and its published water-quality information has historically shown very low levels of major contaminants.Ivy Herbal+1
• It has been bottled from the same spring for more than a century.

Other excellent choices

• Icelandic Glacial — probably my pick if you want a very light, low-mineral spring water. It comes from the Ölfus Spring in Iceland and is also available in glass.Botled Water
• Evian — excellent if you actually want more naturally occurring minerals. Its French Alpine source provides about 80 mg/L calcium and 26 mg/L magnesium.Ivy Herbal
• Acqua Panna — a very good soft-tasting Tuscan spring water; notably, its published testing included a PFAS panel with no PFAS detected.Ivy Herbal

One important caveat: “natural spring” doesn't automatically mean contaminant-free. Independent testing has found detectable PFAS in a number of bottled waters, and absence of a published PFAS result isn't the same as proving none are present.Consumer Reports

My personal ranking for clean + natural + glass: 1. Mountain Valley → 2. Icelandic Glacial → 3. Acqua Panna → 4. Evian

If you tell me whether you care more about PFAS, microplastics, heavy metals, minerals, or the absolute cleanest lab results, I can rank the top 5 specifically on that criterion.

“Cleanest” depends on what you value most: lowest contaminants, best source protection, mineral profile, or packaging. No bottled water is automatically the purest just because it says “spring”; independent testing and transparent sourcing matter.Consumer Reports+1

My top picks for high-quality natural spring/artesian water are:

1. Mountain Valley Spring Water — Best overall (especially in glass)

• Bottled from a protected spring source in Arkansas.
• Available in glass, which avoids many concerns associated with long-term plastic storage.
• Naturally mineral-rich without being overly high in dissolved solids.

2. Icelandic Glacial — Best for a very clean, low-contaminant profile

• Sourced from Icelandic springs.
• Known for low mineral content and a very soft taste.

3. Aqua Carpatica — Best if you prioritize low nitrates

• Marketed around naturally low nitrate levels and a protected mountain source.

4. Evian — Best mineral-rich option

• Naturally mineralized from an Alpine spring.
• Good choice if you like a more noticeable mineral taste.Ivy Herbal

5. FIJI Water — Best-tasting artesian option for many people

• Drawn from an underground artesian source and naturally contains minerals/electrolytes.

A few buying tips:

• Choose glass bottles when possible if you are trying to minimize packaging-related exposure.
• Look for brands that publish full water quality reports (heavy metals, PFAS, nitrates, etc.). Testing studies have found that bottled water quality can vary significantly by brand and sample.ACS Publications
• “Alkaline” does not automatically mean cleaner; purity and contaminant testing matter more than pH.

If I had to pick one for everyday drinking: Mountain Valley Spring Water in glass would be my first choice, with Icelandic Glacial as a close alternative for a very light, clean taste.

When it comes to the "cleanest" natural spring water, purity is typically judged by the untouched nature of the source, low levels of pollutants or heavy metals, and whether the packaging preserves that purity without leaching chemicals (like microplastics).

Water connoisseurs, independent quality tests, and environmental watchdogs frequently point to a few standout brands that consistently rank at the top for exceptional purity and clean taste:

• Icelandic Glacial — Sourced from the legendary Ölfus Spring in Iceland, this water is naturally filtered through layers of impenetrable volcanic rock. It consistently scores remarkably high in purity evaluations, boasting an exceptionally low mineral and heavy metal content alongside a naturally alkaline pH.
• The Mountain Valley Spring Water — Bottled straight from a protected, pristine underground source in the Ouachita Mountains since 1871, this American spring water is famously rich in natural minerals (like calcium, magnesium, and potassium) and is historically packaged in iconic green glass rather than plastic, helping maintain its award-winning crisp taste.
• Crystal Geyser Alpine Spring Water — Uniquely positioned among major U.S. domestic brands, Crystal Geyser bottles exclusively at the natural spring source rather than piping water to centralized facilities or relying on municipal-purified tap water.
• Acqua Panna — Sourced from the rolling hills of Tuscany, Italy, this natural spring water is renowned for a very smooth, clean, and balanced flavor profile favored in fine dining and premium glass packaging.

A quick note on "Cleanliness":
If true chemical-free purity is your goal, the container matters just as much as the spring. Many brands source pristine water, but packaging in single-use plastic can introduce microplastics over time. Opting for brands that use glass bottles (such as Mountain Valley, Icelandic Glacial's glass line, or Acqua Panna) ensures the water stays as pristine as the day it left the earth.

If you want to narrow this down, tell me:

• Are you looking for still or sparkling water?
• Do you prefer glass bottles over plastic?
• Are you looking for a brand for everyday hydration or a specialty/table water?

I can give you a more specific recommendation!
