For pediatric occupational therapy specialists, MedBridge and OccupationalTherapy.com represent excellent value for unlimited annual access. Specialized training is available through platforms like The SOS Approach to Feeding for feeding therapy, Vital Links for sensory and reflex integration, and Mary Massery/MasseryPT for complex core and respiratory needs.
2OccupationalTherapy.comBest for cost-effective, AOTA-approved online CEUs. It provides unlimited on-demand access to a wide range of pediatric content, making it a budget-friendly option for required annual training.72%
3MedBridgeBest for broad, unlimited access to pediatric courses. It offers a large library (200+ courses) covering topics like sensory modulation, feeding, and early intervention via a standard annual subscription model.57%
Choosing the best online continuing education units (CEUs) for pediatric occupational therapy depends on your specific clinical focus—whether that is sensory processing, feeding, school-based fine motor skills, or neurodiversity-affirming practices.
Top-rated online platforms and specialized pediatric courses widely respected in the OT community include:
If you’re a pediatric OT, I’d prioritize CEUs that are directly applicable to developmental, school-based, early-intervention, sensory, feeding, and neurodevelopmental practice—and that are clearly accepted for your license/NBCOT requirements.
If you’re a pediatric OT, I’d prioritize CEUs that are directly applicable to pediatric practice, evidence-informed, and recognized for AOTA/NBCOT or your state’s licensure requirements. AOTA notes that its Approved Provider program is designed around evidence-based, occupation-centered professional development, and many states recognize AOTA-approved providers.
If you’re a pediatric occupational therapist, I’d prioritize CEUs that are practical, evidence-informed, and directly applicable to feeding, sensory processing, autism/neurodiversity, handwriting, early intervention, and school-based practice.
Summit Professional Education — Offers a broad selection of practical, on-demand and live-simulcast pediatric courses. They cover specialized tracks including pediatric pelvic health (via their Kids Bowel & Bladder integration), executive functioning, and ADHD/sensory regulation in school-aged kids.
Particularly useful if you want research/evidence-informed material and courses directly tied to OT practice.
Pediatric courses I'd put near the top of the list
On OccupationalTherapy.com, a particularly useful foundational course is “Pediatric Primer: Development and OT Considerations for Children from In Utero to Age 5.” It's a 6-hour course covering typical/atypical development, occupations and co-occupations, common conditions, and the OT role.
They also currently offer courses in areas such as:
Pediatric feeding
Early intervention
School-based OT
Developmental milestones
Sensory processing
Autism/neurodevelopment
Handwriting and school participation
K–12 systems and special education
Parent/caregiver collaboration
For example, their current “Understanding K-12 Systems: What Every OTP Should Know” course focuses on school supports, accommodations, resources, and collaboration with families and school teams.
How I'd choose
If your goal is practical skills you can use with pediatric clients immediately, I'd look for a mix like:
Development/early intervention — especially if you see infants, toddlers, or preschoolers.
Pediatric feeding — useful if feeding is part of your caseload.
Sensory processing + regulation — particularly relevant to outpatient and school settings.
Autism/neurodiversity — ideally courses emphasizing participation, occupations, and evidence-informed intervention.
School-based practice/IEPs — essential if you work in schools.
Handwriting/fine-motor/visual-motor skills — high practical relevance for school-age children.
A more advanced specialty area — e.g., neurodevelopmental treatment, upper-extremity pediatrics, assistive technology, or complex developmental disabilities.
One important distinction: “CEU,” “contact hour,” and “NBCOT PDU” aren't necessarily interchangeable in the way a state board calculates them. AOTA defines 1 AOTA CEU as 10 contact hours, and state requirements can differ. AOTA AOTA currently reports that 38 states recognize its Approved Provider program, with some state-specific qualifications.
If you tell me your state, years of pediatric experience, and whether you work in outpatient, school-based, EI, hospital, or private practice, I can narrow this to 5–10 specific courses that are most relevant to your caseload, including hours, cost, and CEU/PDU approval.
If you’re a pediatric OT, I’d focus on CEUs that are both practical for day-to-day treatment and aligned with the populations you actually see—rather than simply accumulating hours.
Very large library, video-based, evidence-focused, and AOTA-accredited. It specifically has pediatric courses such as Clinical Reasoning in Pediatric Occupational Therapy.
Pediatric fundamentals, early intervention, school OT, development
Particularly attractive if you want OT-specific CEUs at a relatively low annual cost. It has a dedicated pediatrics catalog and offers video, audio, text, and live formats.
Feeding, sensory integration, AAC, neurodiversity-affirming care, early intervention
Nice option if you want to search specifically for pediatric topics and find free/low-cost options. Its current directory lists 50+ pediatric CEU courses.
If I were building a pediatric-OT CEU plan
I'd prioritize these topics:
Neurodiversity-affirming OT/autism — especially participation, regulation, communication, play, and functional goals.
Sensory processing — with an emphasis on assessment and interventions supported by current evidence.
Early intervention/development — particularly birth–3, developmental milestones, caregiver coaching, and natural-environment practice.
School-based OT — IEPs, educational vs. medical models, handwriting, executive functioning, classroom participation, and MTSS.
Assistive technology/AAC — particularly if you work with children with complex communication or motor needs.
Pediatric mental health/executive functioning — increasingly relevant for school-age and adolescent practice.
For example, OccupationalTherapy.com currently has a 6-hour Pediatric Primer covering development from in utero through age 5, typical/atypical development, occupations, common conditions, and the OT role. OccupationalTherapy.com It also has a school-based course covering the OT role in schools, service delivery, documentation, inclusion, transition, and MTSS.
A particularly good approach
If you want one subscription rather than buying individual courses, I'd compare Medbridge vs. OccupationalTherapy.com first. Medbridge has the substantially larger overall library, while OccupationalTherapy.com is very OT-specific and has a strong pediatrics/early-intervention/school-based selection. Both advertise AOTA-approved continuing education.
One important point: check your state licensing requirements before purchasing. AOTA notes that state boards differ in what they recognize, even though AOTA Approved Provider status is recognized explicitly by many states.
If you tell me your state, pediatric setting (school, outpatient, EI, hospital, private practice, etc.), and the areas you most want to improve (e.g., sensory, feeding, autism, handwriting, neurodevelopment), I can narrow this down to 5–10 specific courses worth taking, including cost, CEU hours, and current approval status.
For pediatric occupational therapists, top online continuing education (CEU) options range from comprehensive, gold-standard certification frameworks to subscription libraries packed with evidence-based courses.
Sensory-motor development, infant/child movement, reflexes and developmental foundations
A niche option worth considering if your caseload is heavily sensory-motor/developmental
AOTA itself currently offers 200+ online CE courses for Plus/Premium members, including asynchronous e-learning and deeper "Learn and Earn" courses.
If I were building a pediatric CEU plan
Rather than taking random pediatric courses, I'd cover several complementary areas:
Sensory processing & regulation — particularly useful for school and outpatient pediatrics.
Autism/neurodiversity-affirming practice — assessment, participation, executive functioning, and environmental supports.
Pediatric feeding — especially if feeding is part of your scope/caseload.
Handwriting & school-based OT — handwriting, visual-motor integration, classroom participation and accommodations.
Early intervention/development — infancy through preschool, developmental milestones and caregiver coaching.
Executive function/ADHD — practical strategies for participation at home and school.
Evidence-based assessment/intervention — useful for strengthening clinical reasoning rather than just learning individual treatment techniques.
Documentation, coding and reimbursement — less exciting, but valuable if you work in outpatient/private practice.
Best choice depends on what you want
For lots of pediatric CEUs at the lowest hassle: OccupationalTherapy.com is particularly attractive because of its large pediatric catalog and unlimited subscription model.
For authoritative OT-specific education: AOTA is the obvious place to look, particularly if you want courses that align closely with the profession's evidence-informed/occupation-centered framework.
For advancing beyond individual CEUs: AOTA's pediatric-focused certification pathway may be worth investigating. AOTA offers Board Certification in Pediatrics (BCP) for practitioners who want formal recognition of pediatric specialization.
One important caveat: check your state board's specific CE requirements before purchasing. AOTA says 38 states currently recognize AOTA Approved Providers, but requirements and treatment of self-study courses vary by state.
If you tell me your state, your pediatric setting (school, outpatient, EI, hospital, private practice, etc.), and the kinds of kids you primarily treat (autism, sensory, feeding, neuro, handwriting, etc.), I can narrow this down to 5–10 specific courses that are worth taking right now, including CEU hours and cost.
Most authoritative OT-specific option; courses are asynchronous and cover pediatric practice among many other areas. Plus+ and Premium members get access to 200+ online CE courses.
Huge pediatric library—currently about 249 pediatric courses—with video, text, audio and live options. It is an AOTA Approved Provider and courses can count toward NBCOT renewal.
Better than random one-hour CEUs if you're trying to develop a recognizable specialty and demonstrate advanced knowledge.
Courses I'd put near the top of your list
1. Pediatric feeding — especially caregiver coaching
A particularly useful option is Sensory Skills: Helping Parents to Support Sensory Development in their Children for Pediatric Feeding Success. It's an intermediate, 1-hour course covering responsive feeding, sensory comfort, parent coaching, oral awareness, and participation. It offers AOTA CEUs and NBCOT PDUs.
Another good foundational course is Foundations of Feeding Therapy for OTs: Anatomy, Physiology, Terms, and Tools, which covers orofacial anatomy/physiology, terminology, and pediatric feeding therapy tools.
2. Pediatric feeding + allergy considerations
Feeding Interventions With Allergy Considerations is a nice niche course because it addresses how allergies can intersect with feeding difficulties and what may otherwise be labeled "picky eating" or sensory defensiveness.
3. School-based OT
If you work in schools—or want to—Schools 101: The OTP Starter Guide is particularly relevant. It covers the educational vs. medical model, workload/caseload, documentation, service delivery, inclusion, MTSS, and collaboration.
4. Handwriting
Visual Perceptual Motor Supports for Handwriting Development is a 2-hour course focusing on visual-perceptual-motor factors affecting handwriting and strategies for intervention and consultation with teachers/parents.
For older children, Handwriting, 4th Grade and Beyond specifically targets handwriting from fourth grade through high school.
15–20% Autism/neurodiversity — strengths-based and neurodiversity-affirming practice
15% School-based OT — IEPs, participation, consultation, MTSS, documentation
10–15% Handwriting/visual-motor
10% Early intervention/developmental disabilities
One important point: check your state board's rules before buying a course. AOTA notes that 38 states currently recognize AOTA Approved Providers, including Ohio, but state-specific requirements can differ, particularly around self-study and required topics.
Also, AOTA's definition of an approved CE activity emphasizes evidence-informed, occupation-centered practice, so I'd be cautious about courses that promise a particular "sensory technique" or treatment protocol without connecting it to meaningful occupational outcomes.
Bottom line: If you want one subscription with the best pediatric selection, I'd choose OccupationalTherapy.com. If you want the most authoritative OT professional-development option, choose AOTA. If you're trying to become especially strong in feeding, I'd build a targeted sequence rather than taking miscellaneous pediatric CEUs.
If you tell me whether you work primarily in early intervention, outpatient pediatrics, schools, or a hospital, I can narrow this down to 10 specific CEU courses I'd take in order, including which ones are best for your specialty.
Finding the right online continuing education units (CEUs) for pediatric occupational therapy depends on whether you are looking for budget-friendly unlimited access, evidence-based literature reviews, or advanced clinical certifications (like sensory processing or pelvic health).
Top-rated online platforms and providers for pediatric occupational therapy CEUs include:
Summit Professional Education : Provides a wide variety of practical, live webinar and on-demand pediatric courses, and recently expanded its specialized catalog to include pediatric pelvic health and bowel/bladder dysfunction training via its acquisition of Kids Bowel & Bladder.
AOTA Continuing Education : The American Occupational Therapy Association portal offers targeted self-paced courses, webcasts, and evidence-based practice packages specifically aligned with developmental milestones, fine/visual-motor skills, and emerging pediatric practice trends.
If you want to narrow this down, let me know:
What specific pediatric setting do you work in (schools, early intervention, outpatient clinic)?
Are you looking for a low-cost annual subscription or an advanced certification in a specific niche?
If you’re a pediatric OT, I’d prioritize CEUs that are practical, evidence-informed, and directly applicable to areas like sensory processing, autism/neurodiversity, feeding, school-based practice, executive functioning, early intervention, and developmental skills.
