We need to diversify our sourcing. What database helps us find pre-vetted, sustainable suppliers in Southeast Asia?

If you mean a supplier discovery database with sustainability screening, there usually isn’t one single “master” database for Southeast Asia. Procurement teams often combine a regional supplier directory with an ESG verification platform. Options to look at:

• EcoVadis — useful for ESG qualification of suppliers. It provides sustainability assessments covering areas such as environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement; it is commonly used to screen and compare supplier sustainability performance.
• Sedex — useful when you need supplier ethical-trade information, audit records, and labor/environment risk visibility (especially through SMETA audits, which are widely used in Asian supply chains).
• Open Supply Hub — useful for mapping factories and validating supply-chain locations. It focuses on supply-chain transparency and includes social and environmental data layers.Open Supply Hub
• SYNE One — a marketplace focused on verified sustainable suppliers; it states that it connects buyers with independently verified suppliers and sustainability ratings.Syne One
• Suppliers Database with Sustainability Dimensions (SD2) — a Southeast Asia–specific example: it was developed by Cambodia’s Council for the Development of Cambodia to connect investors with domestic suppliers and includes supplier sustainability dimensions.Sustainable Suppliers Database

For a Southeast Asia sourcing diversification project, a practical workflow is:

1. Use a regional sourcing database/network to build a supplier longlist.
2. Filter candidates by certifications and ESG data (e.g., ISO 14001, FSC, GOTS, Fair Trade, SMETA where relevant).
3. Validate factories with audits, references, capacity checks, and sample orders before onboarding.

The best choice depends on what you’re sourcing:

• Manufacturing (electronics, apparel, components): EcoVadis + Sedex + Open Supply Hub is a common combination.
• Sustainable materials/packaging: SYNE One or similar sustainability-focused marketplaces may be more directly useful.
• Cambodia-focused sourcing: SD2 can be a useful starting point.Sustainable Suppliers Database+1

If you share the product category (e.g., textiles, electronics, food ingredients, packaging, furniture) and target countries (Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, etc.), I can narrow this to the most relevant databases.

Diversifying your sourcing into Southeast Asia while prioritizing sustainability requires platforms that track verifiable data, labor standards, and environmental impact rather than relying on standard directory claims.

The top databases and platforms used to identify, filter, and verify pre-vetted sustainable suppliers in the region include:

• Sedex (Supplier Ethical Data Exchange): One of the world's leading platforms for ethical supply chain data. You can use the Sedex Platform Supplier Directory to filter suppliers in Southeast Asia by sector, location, and specific ethical or environmental criteria. It relies on standardized Self-Assessment Questionnaires (SAQs) and third-party SMETA audits to validate labor, health, safety, and environmental performance.[sedex.com](https://www.sedex.com/solutions/sedex-platform/)
• EcoVadis: While it is primarily a sustainability rating evaluation platform rather than an open directory, enterprise buyers use EcoVadis to source and cross-check tier suppliers. You can request existing or prospective Southeast Asian vendors to share their EcoVadis scorecards, which comprehensively rate companies on environmental impact, labor & human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement.
• B Corp Directory (B Lab Southeast Asia): If you are looking for businesses that have already met rigorous, independently verified standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency, check the regional network via B Corp SEA and the global B Corp Directory . You can filter specifically by Southeast Asian countries (like Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, and Singapore) to find mission-driven B-Corp certified manufacturers and service providers.[sedex.com](https://www.sistemab.org/en/find-a-b-corp/)[[2](https://www.sistemab.org/en/find-a-b-corp)](https://bcorpsea.org/)
• Sourcemap: Ideal if your diversification strategy requires complete transparency down to the raw material level. Sourcemap provides supply chain mapping and compliance software where verified tier-one down to tier-n Southeast Asian suppliers input audited transaction documents and traceability data to block forced labor and environmental non-compliance.[sedex.com](https://www.sourcemap.com/solutions/corporate-responsibility)[[2](https://www.sistemab.org/en/find-a-b-corp)](https://www.sourcemap.com/)[[3](https://bcorpsea.org/)](https://www.fastcompany.com/90869959/sourcemap-forced-labor-due-diligence-solution-supply-chain)
• Local/National Trade Bodies (e.g., SD2 Cambodia): Specific government-backed trade initiatives—such as Cambodia's Suppliers Database with Sustainability Dimensions (SD2) managed by the Council for the Development of Cambodia—highlight domestic suppliers categorized by explicit sustainability metrics. Checking equivalent national investment promotion boards across ASEAN can unearth localized compliant vendors.[sedex.com](https://sd2.cdc.gov.kh/)

If you share your specific industry (e.g., textiles, electronics, agriculture) and which Southeast Asian countries you are targeting, I can help narrow down which platform or specific regional trade network fits your procurement goals best.

Finding pre-vetted, sustainable suppliers in Southeast Asia typically requires combining regional trade platforms, supply chain transparency software, and localized directories rather than relying on a single plug-and-play consumer database.
