I want a laundry detergent that is tough on stains but does not contain fragrance.

If stain-fighting power is the priority and you want zero added fragrance, I’d look at these:

• Tide Free & Gentle Liquid - $26.00 (Walmart - Vanguard Commerce)

• Persil Free & Sensitive - $45.23 (Walmart - Hidden Path Trading Co LLC)

• Seventh Generation Free & Clear Liquid - $12.97 (Walmart)

• Molly's Suds Unscented Super Powder - $21.99 (Walmart - Molly's Suds)

• Arm & Hammer Sensitive Skin Free & Clear - $12.49 (Target)

• Tide Free & Gentle — A strong all-around choice. It’s free of dyes and perfumes, and Tide says its enzymes target different types of stains.Tide+1

• Persil Free & Sensitive — Another particularly stain-focused option. Persil describes it as fragrance-free, dye-free and “tough on stains,” with pretreatment instructions for tougher spots.Persil Laundry

• Seventh Generation Free & Clear — Fragrance-free, dye-free and enzyme-rich; the company specifically mentions stains such as tomato sauce, grass and coffee.Seventh Generation

• Molly's Suds Unscented Super Powder — Worth considering if you prefer powder and want an enzyme-based formula.

• Arm & Hammer Sensitive Skin Free & Clear — A budget-oriented option that uses stain fighters and contains no fragrance.

My practical shortlist: If you want the strongest conventional cleaning performance, I'd start with Tide Free & Gentle or Persil Free & Sensitive. If you prefer a more plant-based formula, Seventh Generation Free & Clear is a good alternative.Persil Laundry+1

One caveat: “fragrance-free” and “unscented” aren't always synonymous—if you're extremely sensitive to scent, check the ingredient label for fragrance/masking agents rather than relying solely on the front label. Seventh Generation specifically discusses this distinction.Seventh Generation

If you want heavy-duty stain removal without the perfumes, you'll want to look for fragrance-free (often labeled "Free & Gentle" or "Free & Clear") detergents that still pack active enzymes or powerful surfactants.

Here are the top-performing, fragrance-free laundry detergents that balance serious stain-fighting power with zero scent:

1. Tide Free & Gentle

• Best for: Everyday heavy-duty cleaning and sensitive skin.[nytimes.com](https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/the-best-laundry-detergent/)[[2](https://www.reddit.com/r/laundry/comments/1qavwh5)](https://www.reddit.com/r/laundry/comments/1qavwh5/recommended_detergents_wirecutters_review/)

1. Persil ProClean Free & Sensitive

• Why it's great: Persil is Tide’s biggest rival in cleaning power. The Free & Sensitive version is 100% free of perfumes and dyes, but it utilizes deep-cleaning technology to break down stubborn stains and body oils just as effectively as the original formula.
• Best for: Deep cleaning and activewear/odor elimination.

1. All Free Clear

• Why it's great: A classic recommendation by dermatologists and allergists, All Free Clear contains specialized in-wash pre-treaters/stainlifters that target messes without relying on irritating chemical fragrances.
• Best for: Budget-friendly, reliable hypoallergenic washing.nytimes.com

1. Dirty Labs Free & Clear Bio-Enzyme

• Best for: Eco-friendly households wanting a natural bio-enzyme punch.[nytimes.com](https://www.reddit.com/r/laundry/comments/1qavwh5/recommended_detergents_wirecutters_review/)
