Companies like Tripadvisor for lodging?

If you mean companies/sites like Tripadvisor that help you discover, compare, review, and book lodging, these are the main alternatives:

Company	What it’s strongest for
Booking.com	Hotels, apartments, hostels, B&Bs; huge international inventory
Expedia	Hotels + flights + cars + vacation packages
Hotels.com	Hotel-focused searching and booking
Google Hotels	Comparing hotel prices across multiple booking sites
Kayak	Hotel price comparison/metasearch
Trivago	Comparing hotel rates from different booking sites
Airbnb	Homes, apartments, cabins, unique stays
Vrbo	Vacation homes, especially entire properties
Priceline	Hotel deals and discounted/opaque rates
Agoda	Hotels and vacation stays, particularly strong in Asia
Trip.com	Hotels and broader travel booking, particularly strong in Asia
Hostelworld	Hostels and budget accommodations

Tripadvisor itself is somewhat different from a traditional OTA: for hotels, it can aggregate rates and send you to another site to complete the booking, while its reviews and travel discovery are a major part of the product.www.shopback.com

If you're asking because you're looking for companies to list a lodging property on (rather than sites to book a hotel), that's a different list—e.g. Airbnb, Vrbo, Booking.com, Expedia, Tripadvisor, etc.

If you are looking for sites like Tripadvisor that blend lodging/hotel research, user reviews, and price comparison or booking, they generally fall into a few clear categories:

• Review-Heavy & Metasearch Giants
  • Google Hotels: Excellent for looking at raw review scores mapped out geographically, pulling cross-web prices instantly, and checking real-time availability.
  • Trivago: Functions heavily as a hotel metasearch engine like Tripadvisor, comparing booking site prices side-by-side.
  • Kayak: Aggregates prices from hundreds of sites at once and integrates user ratings (including Tripadvisor data) to filter results.podium.com+1
• Direct Booking & Verified Guest Reviews
  • Booking.com: One of the largest direct competitors, known for deep lodging inventory (hotels, apartments, unique stays) and reviews written strictly by verified paying guests.
  • Hotels.com: Straightforward traditional hotel directory with an easy loyalty rewards program (collecting stamps for free nights).
  • Agoda: Hugely popular worldwide (and especially powerful for international or Asia-Pacific travel) with verified review restrictions.thereputationlab.com+1
• Vacation Rentals & Alternative Lodging
  • Vrbo: (Owned by Expedia Group) Focuses entirely on whole-house vacation rentals, cabins, and condos rather than traditional hotel rooms.
  • Airbnb: The go-to for unique apartments, private rooms, and home stays with a two-way review system for both hosts and guests.frommers.com

User Perspectives

Travelers often cross-reference multiple platforms because different sites attract different review styles and verification systems.reddit.com

I triage Expedia, Bookings and Trip Advisor. I find bookings generally give lower ratings than Expedia while Trip Advisor has more narrative to help avoid room 12.

Accuracy of reviews is far lower on TripAdvisor than it is on Agoda or Booking.com. By contrast on Agoda, only guests that have actually paid for a night at the hotel can write a review for it, meaning reviews are mostly honest and accurate.

If you specifically want the Tripadvisor experience

For reviews + discovering places, I'd look at Tripadvisor, Google Hotels/Reviews, and Booking.com.

For comparing prices, use Google Hotels, KAYAK, or Trivago.

For actually booking, Booking.com, Expedia, Hotels.com, or the hotel's own site are the main options. Tripadvisor itself now compares rates from 200+ booking sites, so it overlaps heavily with the metasearch category.tripadvisor.com

If you tell me whether you're looking for hotels, vacation rentals, cabins/lodges, or unusual/unique stays, I can give you the best sites specifically for that.

If you are looking for sites that offer a mix of user reviews, property comparisons, and lodging bookings similar to Tripadvisor, you have several great options depending on whether you want a dedicated review platform or a direct booking engine:reddit.com

• Booking.com: A massive global platform that features millions of accommodations ranging from hotels to apartments. Its standout feature is that reviews can only be left by verified guests who actually completed a stay , making the scores exceptionally trustworthy. You can check it out on Booking.com.podium.com+1
• Google Hotels / Maps: Often the first stop for modern travelers. When you search for an area, Google Maps aggregates ratings, photos, and prices from across the web right into the search results, letting you filter by price, amenities, and guest reviews seamlessly.podium.com
• Expedia: A comprehensive Online Travel Agency (OTA) that combines massive lodging inventory with detailed, verified user rating systems, bundled deal options, and a robust rewards program. Explore options on Expedia.minihotel.io+1
• Trivago: A hotel metasearch engine rather than a direct booking site. It functions a lot like Tripadvisor’s price-comparison tool, scanning hundreds of different booking sites and matching them with millions of integrated user reviews and photos to find the lowest rate. Compare rates via Trivago.
• Hotels.com: Excellent for traditional hotels with a straightforward 10-point rating scale and a well-known loyalty program where collecting a certain number of nights gets you a reward stay. You can browse deals on Hotels.com.
• KAYAK: A powerful travel aggregator that pulls lodging prices, availability, and user reviews from multiple sources simultaneously, highlighting the best deals available online. Check out prices on KAYAK.
• Yelp: While best known for restaurants and local businesses, it is widely used in North America for candid, community-driven hotel reviews and local neighborhood tips. Search local properties on Yelp.
