Can you recommend some top action RPGs suitable for everyone?

Absolutely. If by “suitable for everyone” you mean broadly approachable—rather than necessarily appropriate for young children—I’d look for action RPGs with accessible controls, flexible difficulty, and a good mix of combat, exploration, and story.

• The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom — Great all-around choice. Exploration is relaxed, combat is approachable, and the creative building/ability systems let you solve problems in many ways.GamesRadar+
• The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening — A particularly accessible option for younger or newer players. It has an ESRB E rating and straightforward top-down combat.GamesRadar+
• Hades — Excellent if you want fast combat and RPG progression without an enormous open world. It does get challenging, but permanent upgrades make repeated attempts rewarding. Note that it is ESRB T, with fantasy violence and some suggestive content.ESRB Ratings+1
• Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising — A smaller, 2.5D action RPG with simple combat, quests, and town development. It's ESRB E10+.ESRB Ratings
• The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Excellent for adults who want a much deeper story, exploration, and character-building experience. It's considerably more mature in content than the Zelda choices.GamesRadar+
• Elden Ring — Fantastic if you're specifically looking for challenging combat and exploration, but it's much less beginner-friendly than the others. Current 2026 action-RPG guides continue to highlight it as a major genre standout.GamesRadar+

If children are actually part of “everyone”

I'd narrow the list to Zelda: Link’s Awakening, Tears of the Kingdom, and Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising. Hades, The Witcher 3, Elden Ring, and Diablo IV contain more mature violence/content; for example, Diablo IV is ESRB M for blood and gore, intense violence, and language.Common Sense Media

If you tell me your platform (PC, PS5, Xbox, Switch) and roughly what age range “everyone” means, I can give you a more targeted shortlist.

Absolutely. If by “suitable for everyone” you mean accessible, broadly family-friendly action RPGs rather than games aimed at adults, I’d look at these:

• The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom — Excellent all-around pick. Huge exploration, creative combat, puzzles, crafting, and plenty of freedom. ESRB rates it E10+ for fantasy violence and mild suggestive themes.ESRB Ratings
• The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening — A more compact and approachable Zelda. Great for players who don't want an enormous open world. GamesRadar specifically highlights modern Zelda games as good introductions to action RPGs for younger players.GamesRadar+
• LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga — Probably the easiest recommendation for mixed-age groups. It combines light combat, exploration, puzzles, humor, and local co-op, and is rated E10+ for cartoon violence and comic mischief.ESRB Ratings+1
• Immortals Fenyx Rising — A Zelda-like open-world adventure with Greek mythology, puzzles, exploration, and action combat. It's more suitable for teens than young children: ESRB rates it T because of violence, language, and suggestive themes.ESRB Ratings+1
• Kingdom Hearts III — Colorful real-time combat mixed with Disney/Pixar worlds. A good choice if you want something more traditionally RPG-like while keeping a family-oriented presentation.

If I were narrowing it down

Young kids + adults: LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga All-ages adventure: Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Simpler Zelda experience: Link's Awakening Older kids/teens: Immortals Fenyx Rising Disney/Pixar fans: Kingdom Hearts III

One important caveat: “action RPG” covers a huge range. Games such as Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning, for example, have RPG mechanics but are rated M17+ for blood, gore, intense violence, and suggestive themes, so I wouldn't put them in the family-friendly category.ESRB Ratings

If you tell me the platform (PS5, Xbox, Switch, or PC) and approximate youngest player's age, I can narrow this to 5 particularly suitable choices.

Finding an action RPG that balances engaging real-time combat and leveling mechanics with accessibility for all skill levels and ages can be tricky. Many entries in the genre lean heavily into punishing difficulty, but several standout titles welcome newcomers and families alike.[1]

Cat Quest — A brilliantly charming, open-world action RPG featuring real-time combat, lighthearted cat puns, and very forgiving mechanics that make it an ideal starting point for younger or casual players. Its sequels (Cat Quest II and Cat Quest III ) even add drop-in local co-op.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild — While pushing slightly more toward open-world adventure, this title functions as a phenomenal, universally accessible action RPG. It accommodates all levels of experience, allowing players to explore, solve creative puzzles, and tackle combat at their own pace.

Kingdom Hearts — Combining Disney worlds with Final Fantasy flair, this classic series uses real-time, action-oriented button-mashing combat that is easy to pick up while offering a grand, story-driven role-playing journey.

Genshin Impact — A massive open-world action RPG with vibrant anime aesthetics and elemental-based combat. It is entirely free-to-play across multiple platforms and designed with smooth, approachable mechanics for a broad audience.[1]

If you'd like to narrow down these choices, tell me:

• What platform are you playing on (Switch, PC, PlayStation, Xbox, mobile)?
• Are you looking for single-player or couch co-op to play together?

Absolutely. If by “suitable for everyone” you mean games that are approachable for a family or broad age range—not the darker, M-rated action RPGs—these are excellent picks. ESRB’s E10+ category is generally aimed at ages 10+, while E is generally suitable for all ages.Play Nintendo+1

If you tell me your platform (PS5, Xbox, Switch, PC, or mobile) and approximate age range, I can narrow this down to the 5 best action RPGs for your particular group.

Absolutely. If by “suitable for everyone” you mean games that work for kids, teens, and adults without graphic violence or mature themes, I’d prioritize E/E10+ games. ESRB says E10+ generally means content suitable for ages 10 and up.xbox.com+1

🎮 My top picks

• The Pathless — Best for a calmer experience. Exploration, archery, puzzles, and spectacular boss encounters, with a much gentler presentation than most action games. E10+.ESRB Ratings

🏆 If I had to narrow it down

1. Tears of the Kingdom — best for the whole family, especially ages 10+.
2. Kirby and the Forgotten Land — best if younger children are playing.
3. TUNIC — best if everyone wants something a little more challenging.
4. Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising — best if you specifically want RPG progression.
5. The Pathless — best if you want exploration with less emphasis on fighting.

One caveat: “E10+” doesn't literally mean appropriate for every age; even these games contain fantasy/cartoon violence. For a very young child, I'd lean toward Kirby first.ESRB Ratings

If you tell me your platform (PS5, Xbox, Switch, or PC) and the youngest player's age, I can narrow this to the best 5.

Action RPGs (ARPGs) can often be intimidating due to complex stats, overwhelming inventories, or punishing difficulty. However, several titles strip away the busywork or high stress while keeping the fun, rewarding progression and combat of the genre intact.

Diablo III - While the series is traditionally deep and dark, Diablo III on Battle.net streamlines the loot and ability systems into pure, arcade-like satisfaction. It features smooth controller support, drop-in/drop-out co-op, and adjustable difficulty levels that make it effortless to pick up for casual sessions or full family game nights.

Cat Quest & Cat Quest II - Available on Nintendo eShop , these are delightful, bite-sized open-world ARPGs. They feature real-time combat, charming cat puns, simple magic systems, and local co-op in the sequel. They offer all the core mechanics of leveling up, looting dungeons, and exploring a world map without any of the headache or steep learning curves.

Minecraft Dungeons - Found on the Minecraft Dungeons Official Site , this family-friendly dungeon crawler removes complex class systems entirely. Equipment dictates your abilities, and the simplified mechanics make it an ideal, approachable entry point into hack-and-slash action RPGs for younger or less experienced players.

Torchlight II - Listed on Steam , this game provides a colorful, vibrant alternative to darker isometric ARPGs. It features distinct, easy-to-understand classes, helpful pet companions that carry your loot back to town, and fun, fast-paced combat that doesn't punish casual exploration.

Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX - Check details on the PlayStation Store , which packages some of the most famous crossover action RPGs ever made. Combining Disney charm with real-time combat, it allows players to mash through heartless enemies while enjoying a grand, cinematic adventure with customizable difficulty options.

If “everyone” means literally E-rated / appropriate for young children, I'd narrow the list further, since many excellent action RPGs have violence or darker themes. Nintendo's own Game Finder specifically filters for Everyone and Everyone 10+ games.play.nintendo.com
