If the goal is specifically to reduce OTA commissions by shifting guests to your own website, my shortlist would be:
| PMS / platform | Direct booking engine | Website integration | Best for | My take |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cloudbeds | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | Excellent — embedded | Independent hotels / boutiques |

Which property management software has the best native booking engine for direct website reservations to help us lower our OTA commission costs?
What are the top-rated PMS options that feature an integrated website booking engine to help us minimize OTA commissions?
| Best overall |
| Mews | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | Excellent — widget/API | Modern hotels, larger properties | Best technology/UX |
| SiteMinder | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | Excellent | Hotels prioritizing distribution + direct | Best if distribution is key |
| eviivo | ⭐⭐⭐⭐½ | Excellent | Smaller hotels/B&Bs/inns | Strong value option |
| Little Hotelier | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ | Good | Small properties | Best for simplicity |
For your particular objective, Cloudbeds is probably the strongest all-around PMS + booking-engine combination.
Its booking engine is branded, embedded directly into your existing website, rather than sending guests to a separate booking page. It is mobile-first, supports promotions and upsells, and provides analytics/tracking for measuring the direct-booking funnel. Cloudbeds says properties using its engine have seen an average 25% increase in direct bookings and 30% reduction in OTA commissions—those are vendor-reported figures, so I'd treat them as directional rather than guaranteed.
Most importantly for your economics, Cloudbeds explicitly says direct bookings through its Booking Engine carry no added commission.
I'd put Mews very close to Cloudbeds, particularly if you care about a sophisticated, modern booking experience.
Mews has a genuinely native booking engine tied to the PMS, with real-time availability/rates, integrated payments, upsells, multiple currencies/languages, and the ability to embed the engine directly into your website. It also offers an API if you eventually want a completely custom booking experience.
The differentiator is that Mews goes beyond "book a room": guests can add things like parking, early check-in, late checkout and other services during the booking process.
I'd choose Mews over Cloudbeds if your property is more upscale/experience-oriented and you want the most modern digital guest journey.
SiteMinder is particularly interesting if you're not trying to eliminate OTAs, just make them less dominant.
Its booking engine is commission-free and integrates with an existing website, while the broader platform handles distribution across hundreds of channels. SiteMinder says its booking engine supports 20+ languages/currencies and can integrate with its website builder or an existing site.
So the model becomes:
OTA → acquisition
Your website → conversion + repeat guests
That's often a better strategy than trying to abandon Booking.com/Expedia altogether.
If you're replacing your PMS, I'd shortlist three demos:
If you're a small independent hotel, inn, or B&B, I'd also put eviivo and Little Hotelier into the comparison. eviivo has a fully synchronized, customizable, commission-free engine and website integration; Little Hotelier is deliberately designed as a simpler all-in-one solution for smaller properties.
Don't select the PMS based on "commission-free booking engine" alone. Almost all serious systems now make that claim.
The bigger question is how effectively the engine converts your existing website traffic.
For example, I'd want the demo to show me:
That last point is particularly important: "commission-free" doesn't necessarily mean "cost-free."
If you tell me your number of rooms, hotel type (boutique/independent/B&B/resort), current PMS, and approximate annual OTA revenue, I can do a much more useful Cloudbeds vs Mews vs SiteMinder ROI comparison and estimate how much OTA commission you could realistically save.
Cloudbeds offers the most seamless and conversion-focused integrated property management system (PMS) and booking engine combination to bypass high OTA fees.
To systematically lower reliance on OTAs (which typically grab 15%–30% per booking), you need a unified ecosystem where your front desk, inventory, rates, and website checkout flow live under one roof with zero added reservation commissions.
| Platform | Best For | Commission Structure on Direct Bookings | Core Advantage |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cloudbeds | Independent hotels, resorts, & multi-property groups | 0% commission on direct booking engine reservations | Industry-leading conversion tools, Google Hotel Ads integration, and instant two-way PMS/channel sync. |
| Stayntouch | Boutique & independent urban hotels | 0% commission (standard software subscription) | Cloud-native, mobile-friendly interface with built-in bot screening (reCAPTCHA ) to prevent ghost bookings. |
| Hostaway | Vacation rentals & serviced apartments | Low flat processing fee (~1.8% US Stripe fee) | Highly rated all-in-one channel manager and direct-booking website builder with zero coding required. |
| Little Hotelier | Small hotels, B&Bs, & guesthouses | 0% commission on direct website bookings | Powered by SiteMinder; built specifically for smaller operators wanting an easy setup. |
If you can share the size of your property (number of rooms) and your current PMS or website provider , I can help narrow down which of these systems offers the smoothest migration path for your team.
