Whichever tool you choose, make sure it can report these metrics at both individual-job and fleet-wide levels:

• Completion rate: successful jobs ÷ total terminal jobs.
• Failure rate: failed jobs ÷ total terminal jobs.
• On-time completion rate: jobs completed before their deadline ÷ jobs due.
• Failure count by job type: identifies repeatedly failing workloads.
• Duration percentiles: median and p95 runtime to detect regressions.
• Retry and exhausted-retry counts: distinguishes transient errors from persistent failures.

One important implementation detail: calculate completion and failure rates from a consistent population of jobs, excluding jobs that are still running or queued. Also, deduplicate retries so that one logical job is not counted as several independent jobs unless that is intentional.
