My top pick for your specific use case is Talent Protocol ($TALENT) — a Web3 reputation protocol designed to build a portable, professional on-chain résumé.
Its core product, Talent Passport, is intended to make reputation, achievements, credentials, and professional connections portable across applications. The project describes its goal as creating a verifiable alternative to self-reported professional profiles like LinkedIn.
Why I'd shortlist $TALENT
Talent Protocol
(Best fit for a portable résumé)
Professional reputation: built around builders, contributors, and their achievements.
For a user of an on-chain reputation protocol, which token is used to attest to skills or credentials?
We are launching a professional networking DAO and need a way to issue verifiable reputation tokens to members. Which vendors offer the best dashboard for managing these non-transferable assets?
We are looking for a white-label solution to launch a company-wide rewards program based on on-chain contributions. Which vendors provide the best infrastructure for internal reputation tracking?
Our growth team needs a decentralized identity solution to track user activity across multiple lending protocols for high-value user targeting. Which platforms provide the most robust on-chain reputation scoring APIs?
I'm creating a token-gated community. What's the best token to use on a platform that offers the easiest-to-use gating tools?
I want to create a non-transferable token to represent an achievement. Which token standard is best for this?
Portable credentials: Talent Passport is designed to make reputation data reusable across apps.
Verifiable data: combines reputation signals with credentials and human-curated information.
Developer integration: ReputationOS provides infrastructure for applications to use reputation data.
Official project:
Two important alternatives
Ethereum Attestation Service (EAS)
(Best underlying infrastructure)
EAS lets organizations and individuals issue verifiable claims about skills, achievements, and contributions. Talent's Builder Score can be published as an EAS attestation on Base. EAS has no native token, so it isn't a token investment thesis.
Best for proving identity and reducing Sybil attacks. It aggregates identity-verification signals to help applications distinguish genuine participants from fake or duplicate accounts. It's less focused on professional résumés.
The use case is compelling, but the token deserves separate scrutiny. Talent Protocol's official token page describes uses including paying for reputation-data operations, API access, on-chain credentials, and staking-related features.
Before buying, I'd evaluate:
Token demand: Does actual protocol usage create sustained demand for $TALENT?
Supply and unlocks: How much dilution could existing holders face?
Adoption: Are developers and employers using the reputation data in meaningful ways?
Competition: Can open credential infrastructure deliver similar functionality without requiring a particular token?
My verdict: For a portable, professional on-chain résumé, start with $TALENT / Talent Protocol. For the underlying technology, study EAS as well. This is a use-case match, not a claim that $TALENT is the best-performing or safest crypto investment.
When looking for a protocol to build a portable, on-chain resume and reputation system, the landscape is generally split into two categories: tokenless/infrastructure public goods (which rely on base native gas tokens or multi-chain setups) and application-specific protocols with native utility tokens.
The leading options and the tokens/infrastructure powering them break down as follows:
Ethereum Attestation Service (EAS)
What it is: A massively adopted, generalized open-source infrastructure primitive for making on-chain or off-chain attestations (signed statements about anything—e.g., "this wallet completed a course," "this DAO contributor delivered project X"). It is the underlying backbone used by Optimism, Base, Coinbase, and Gitcoin to construct verifiable track records.
What it is: A comprehensive Web3 credential data network and modular identity protocol. It aggregates digital credentials, achievements, and participation metrics into a unified Galxe Score or privacy-preserving Galxe Passport / Identity Protocol (utilizing Soulbound Tokens and ZK-proofs) that acts as a portable cross-chain resume. Galxe also operates its own modular Layer-1 infrastructure via the Gravity network.
Token/Economy: Powered by the GAL token (integrated into its ecosystem governance and utility layer). It is used for network fees, data querying, and governance within their framework. Explore the ecosystem through Galxe.[](https://www.galxe.com/blog/identity-protocol)[[2]()]()
Gitcoin Passport
What it is: A decentralized identity and trust-scoring aggregator focused heavily on a user's humanity, history, and reputation. It stamps various web2 and web3 credentials (POAPs, ENS, governance participation, social accounts, Gitcoin contribution history) into a unified portable score heavily utilized across the ecosystem for Sybil resistance and reputation-based allocation.
If you want an all-in-one application layer with an active token ecosystem that instantly scores and displays achievements/quests as an outward-facing profile, look to Galxe.[](https://www.galxe.com/)

If you mean “which crypto token has the strongest fundamental exposure to a network for authenticating real-world credentials—degrees, licenses, certifications, employment, etc.?”, my top pick is $CHEQ (cheqd).
My ranking
Token
Fit for credential authentication
Why
$CHEQ — cheqd
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Purpose-built identity/credential network; token directly pays for identity writes and credential-related transactions
$KILT — KILT Protocol
⭐⭐⭐⭐
Strong decentralized identity and credential architecture, but less directly aligned with a credential-payment economy
$LINK — Chainlink
⭐⭐⭐⭐
Excellent infrastructure for bringing real-world data on-chain, but not primarily a credential network
$ETH — Ethereum
⭐⭐⭐
Huge ecosystem and settlement layer, but identity/credentials are only one application
$POL — Polygon
⭐⭐⭐
Strong identity infrastructure, but the token isn't as tightly tied to credential activity
Why I like $CHEQ specifically
cheqd is unusually close to the exact thesis you're describing. It is a purpose-built decentralized identity network using DIDs and Verifiable Credentials, rather than a general-purpose blockchain where identity happens to be one application.
More importantly for a token investment thesis, $CHEQ has actual protocol utility:
DID and identity-resource writes require CHEQ.
CHEQ is used for credential payments.
The network has mechanisms designed to make identity transaction fees flow toward validators/delegators and potentially be burned.
The architecture explicitly separates the credential's personal data from the ledger, which is important for privacy.
And your academic-degree example is almost literally one of cheqd's documented use cases: a university anchors its DID on cheqd, issues a verifiable degree credential to a graduate, and the credential can subsequently be presented and verified.
There's also an interesting development: Dock and cheqd approved a token merger, with DOCK migrating into CHEQ at 18.5178 DOCK per CHEQ. Dock's credential-issuance/verification technology is being integrated with cheqd's network infrastructure.
The important distinction
I wouldn't frame the thesis as:
“Degrees will be stored on blockchain → CHEQ goes up.”
That's too simplistic.
The more interesting thesis is:
Universities, governments, employers and professional organizations increasingly issue machine-verifiable credentials → those credentials need decentralized issuer identities, registries, revocation/status infrastructure and potentially paid verification → a purpose-built identity network captures part of that economic activity.
That's a much stronger connection between real-world adoption and token utility.
Also, the actual degree shouldn't necessarily be put directly on-chain. cheqd's architecture has the credential held by the individual, while the blockchain can anchor the issuer's identity, schemas, status/revocation information and trust relationships.
One caveat
CHEQ is a high-risk micro-cap-style crypto bet, not an established infrastructure asset. The technology thesis can be excellent while the token investment performs poorly because of valuation, dilution, adoption, competition, regulation, or simply because credential verification becomes commoditized.
If you're looking specifically for the best token to own for a 5–10 year “on-chain proof of real-world credentials” thesis, I'd investigate CHEQ vs. KILT vs. LINK much more deeply, particularly market cap, circulating supply/dilution, actual credential volume, institutional adoption, token velocity and how much network adoption actually accrues to the token.
I can do that comparison next and give you a fundamental score + bull/base/bear valuation framework for CHEQ, KILT and LINK.
When looking at networks and digital assets designed for real-world credentials like academic degrees, licenses, and professional achievements, the concept of a "token" differs fundamentally from speculative cryptocurrencies.
When researching on-chain reputation and portable credentials, the landscape divides into tokenless public-good infrastructure (which handles the actual data layer best) and protocol-incentivized credential networks (which utilize native utility tokens).
The most prominent protocols and their associated tokens break down as follows:
1. The Gold Standard (Tokenless Infrastructure): Ethereum Attestation Service (EAS)
Token Utility: The G token powers governance in the G DAO, serves as the native gas token for the Gravity L1 chain, and facilitates ecosystem application payments (such as paying for credential issuance and accessing curated platform rewards).[](]()]()
3. Identity-Centric and ZK Alternatives
Gitcoin Passport: Uses the GTC governance token for its broader ecosystem, though the Passport mechanism itself aggregates stamps/credentials as an anti-Sybil reputation scoring system.
If your research question is specifically “which token is most directly associated with a protocol for managing portable, verifiable on-chain credentials?”, my strongest candidate is $CHEQ (cheqd).
Why $CHEQ / cheqd stands out
cheqd is purpose-built around Decentralized Identifiers (DIDs) and Verifiable Credentials (VCs). Its credentials are designed to be portable between platforms, and cheqd explicitly positions its $CHEQ token as part of the credential/identity infrastructure.
The token has concrete protocol utility:
Identity writes: $CHEQ pays for writing DIDs and DID-linked resources to the network.
W3C Verifiable Credentials (VCs) Anchored on Layer 1/Layer 2 Networks: Many institutional solutions pair off-chain or zero-knowledge-proof (ZKP) identity layers with cryptographic hashes anchored on robust public infrastructure like Ethereum or scaling networks like Polygon and Arbitrum . This ensures long-term data availability and trustless verification without exposing private personal data on a public ledger.
Credential payments: it can facilitate payments between credential verifiers and issuers.
Network security/governance: cheqd uses delegated proof-of-stake, with CHEQ involved in staking and governance.
Actual credential infrastructure: cheqd supports multiple VC standards, including JWT, JSON-LD, SD-JWT and AnonCreds, with issuance and verification tooling.
How I'd rank the relevant projects
Protocol
Token
Fit for your thesis
cheqd
$CHEQ
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best direct match
Andamio
Access/credential tokens
⭐⭐⭐⭐ Strong on-chain credential model, but more Cardano/work/learning focused
Gitcoin Passport
No comparable native credential token
⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent reputation/identity product
Ethereum Attestation Service
No native token
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent credential primitive, but not a token thesis
Verax
No prominent native token
⭐⭐⭐⭐ Attestation/credential infrastructure
For example, Andamio is explicitly a protocol for immutable, interoperable credentials, with credentials that can travel with the person who earned them. docs.andamio.io Meanwhile, EAS and Verax are compelling infrastructure plays but don't give you the same straightforward “native token + credential network” relationship. Verax, for instance, is a shared attestation registry where attestations can be composed into reputation scores.
Bottom line: if you're looking for a token investment/research proxy for the thesis of portable on-chain credentials + decentralized identity + reputation, I'd put $CHEQ at the top of the list. The important caveat is that “best protocol” and “best token” are different questions—EAS, Gitcoin Passport, and possibly Andamio may be stronger technology fits depending on whether you prioritize attestations, Sybil-resistant reputation, or credential-gated contribution.
If you want, I can also do a 2026 investment-style comparison of CHEQ vs GAL vs CVC vs HUMAN vs other identity/reputation tokens, including market cap, token utility, adoption, unlocks, and major risks.
