The Atari Lynx is a fourth-generation handheld game console released by Atari Corporation, debuting in North America in 1989 and in Europe/Japan in 1990. It was the first handheld with a color LCD and was powered by a 4 MHz 65C02 CPU with a custom graphics/sound system, featuring a 3.5-inch backlit color display at 160×102 resolution and 64 KB of RAM. Developed at Epyx as the Handy Game, it competed with Nintendo’s Game Boy and others, spawned the Lynx II, and sold about 2 million units with 73 games released before discontinuation in 1995.
