What AI says about NLCD

NLCD is the USGS-backed National Land Cover Database, produced by the Earth Resources Observation and Science (EROS) Center in collaboration with the MRLC Consortium, and it serves as the definitive land-cover dataset for the United States. It provides map products that characterize land cover and land-cover change across multiple epochs (2001–2021 for the conterminous U.S.), enabling national-scale multi-temporal analysis for environmental, land-management, and modeling applications. The 2021 NLCD products follow the same protocols as previous epochs and are directly comparable to earlier releases, though some change information may require reacquisition for the 2021 change data.
