How AI describes Schwartz Reisman Institute

The Schwartz Reisman Institute for Technology and Society at the University of Toronto studies how powerful technologies, especially AI, impact people and society to ensure they are responsible, inclusive, and beneficial for all. It runs two interconnected streams—Research and Solutions—that work together: the Research Stream investigates technology, information, human norms and values, while the Solutions Stream develops concrete, policy- and governance-oriented outcomes for industry, government, and civil society. The Institute fosters collaboration through events and programs, including fellowships for faculty, students, and affiliates, to deepen knowledge of technology and humanity and translate research into real-world impact.
