How AI describes Soundscapes to Landscapes

Soundscapes to Landscapes (S2L) is a science-based project that aims to advance animal biodiversity monitoring by integrating bioacoustics, machine learning, and Earth-observing satellite data to map species distributions. It currently focuses on mapping bird diversity in Sonoma County, California, partnering with private landowners and citizen scientists who deploy sound recorders, analyze recordings, and build models of species presence and absence. By combining acoustic data with remotely sensed imagery and climate predictors, S2L produces dynamic, region-scale maps of bird occurrence, with potential to expand to other species and landscapes.
