The SAND Lab at the University of Chicago focuses on security, algorithms, networking, and data, and is co-directed by Ben Y. Zhao and Heather Zheng. Its research spans security and machine learning with occasional work in human–computer interaction and data mining. The lab conducts projects in wireless and mobile systems, HCI/user behavior, and security/privacy, including adversarial machine learning and related defenses, and it actively recruits PhD students.
