NCES is the U.S. federal statistical agency that collects, analyzes, and reports data on the condition of U.S. education—from early childhood to adult education—to inform policy and improve student outcomes, using accurate, timely, nonpartisan statistics. It maintains the infrastructure and conducts numerous surveys and programs (such as CCD, SLDS, ECLS, NTPS, PIAAC, and NAEP) to generate data, indicators, and insights on how education changes over time. Its publications, products, and dashboards (including the Condition of Education, Digest dashboards, and EDGE) translate this data into accessible resources for policymakers, educators, researchers, and the public.
