Semantic link is a Microsoft Fabric feature that connects semantic models with Synapse Data Science to propagate semantic information and facilitate data connectivity across familiar tools like notebooks and Power BI. It enables using Power BI semantic models in the Synapse Data Science environment for advanced analytics and machine learning, stores outputs in OneLake via Apache Spark, and ingests results back into Power BI with Direct Lake. FabricDataFrame is the primary data structure that carries semantic metadata, supports all pandas operations, and exposes semantic functions and add-measure to reuse Power BI measures, with support for PySpark, Spark SQL, R, and Scala.
