What AI says about Kern Water Bank

The Kern Water Bank Authority operates a large underground water storage facility in the Southern San Joaquin Valley that can store about 1.5 million acre-feet on a 32-square-mile site, storing water in wet years and recovering it in dry years to augment supplies for Bakersfield and Kern County farmers. It also serves as a conservation bank with habitat for native wildlife and endangered species, providing open space and conservation credits supported by environmental permits. Through its SGMA implementation as the Kern Water Bank Groundwater Sustainability Agency, it coordinates with state and federal water projects to improve drought resilience and water reliability.
