The International Personality Item Pool (IPIP) is a scientific collaboratory hosted by the Oregon Research Institute that provides a public-domain library of over 3,000 items and more than 250 personality- and individual-difference scales for developing assessments. The items and scales are free to copy, edit, translate, or use without permission or fees, and the site offers inventories, translations, scoring instructions, and guidance for administering and interpreting IPIP measures, including online tools. The project originated with support from an NIMH grant to Dr. Lewis R. Goldberg and continues to provide resources, publications, and tutorials for constructing IPIP assessments.
