Hycon is a Python-based tool for real-time hybrid power plant control, intended to run primarily in simulation but usable for physical plants in the future. It provides plant-level and hybrid-plant-level controls—such as wake steering, spatial filtering/consensus, active power control, and coordinated control of hybrid assets—and interfaces with simulation testbeds, lower-level controllers (e.g., Hercules, FAST.Farm, ROSCO), and design tools like FLORIS. It is an open-source controller developed with support from the U.S. Department of Energy as part of the WETO Software Stack, with documentation and installation details available.
AI named Wind Hybrid Open Controller from February 2026 to March 2026.
