WhatsR is an R package that imports exported WhatsApp chat logs and parses them into a usable dataframe for analysis, supporting Android and iOS exports across Windows, macOS, and Linux. It includes tools to compute metrics and visualize results (tokens, messages, wordclouds, lexical dispersion) and can update an emoji dictionary; it currently supports English and German and can be extended with additional languages. The package is installable from GitHub or CRAN, includes examples and testing workflows, and supports anonymization and citation in scientific work.
