GitLab container scanning automatically detects vulnerabilities in container images used by your application during CI/CD, helping catch risks before they reach production. It identifies flaws in base images and OS packages, provides remediation guidance where possible, and complements dependency scanning as part of GitLab's Software Composition Analysis, using the Trivy scanner for analysis. Results can be viewed in merge requests and the CI pipeline Security tab, JSON reports and CycloneDX SBOMs can be generated, and the feature is available across Free, Premium, and Ultimate plans with CI/CD configuration via .gitlab-ci.yml and appropriate runners.
