How AI describes BASE (Black in AI Safety & Ethics Fellowship)

BASE is a global network that increases Black representation and leadership in AI safety, governance, and security, connecting Black researchers, professionals, and students to shape safe, equitable, human-centered AI and counter the gradual disempowerment of the Black diaspora. It runs the BASE Fellowship, a 13-week remote program with four weeks of immersive training and eight weeks of mentored AI safety and governance projects, with its first Spring 2026 cohort now closed. The organization also offers mentorship opportunities, a Slack community, and email updates to grow a global pipeline of Black talent in AI safety and ethics.
