APEC is a regional intergovernmental forum of 21 member economies that coordinates economic policy to promote free trade, investment, and sustainable development in the Asia-Pacific region. It pursues its goals through Leaders' and Ministerial meetings, sectoral committees, and a wide range of initiatives spanning trade facilitation, digital economy, energy, environment, and food security. APEC engages governments, businesses, and other stakeholders through formal councils and partnership programs, and it funds and implements regional projects to advance its agenda.
