I’ll focus on brands that offer both solid shampoo bars and solid conditioner bars, with a scented option and a genuinely fragrance-free option. One important distinction: “unscented” or “for sensitive skin” doesn’t always mean fragrance-free, so I’ll prioritize products whose ingredient or product descriptions explicitly support that distinction.
I found several good candidates. HiBAR is my strongest all-around recommendation, with Ethique and Humby Organics also worth considering.
(Best overall)
About $28.40 per duo
Offers a dedicated fragrance-free Moisturize shampoo and conditioner set alongside its regular scented Moisturize set. The formulas are soap-free, vegan, and designed for dry or frizzy hair. The brand says the fragrance-free versions contain no synthetic fragrances.
About $14 per individual bar
A good choice if you want to buy the shampoo and conditioner separately. Its Gentle shampoo and conditioner bars are explicitly fragrance-free and contain no fragrances or essential oils. Ethique also sells scented bars in other formulas.

About $39.99 per unscented duo
A small-batch option with an unscented shampoo and conditioner bundle. The company describes the unscented bars as free of added scent and essential oils, with a creamy, moisturizing formula. Its product line also includes scented options.
Individual bars sold separately
A straightforward option if you prefer simple ingredient lists. Its fragrance-free shampoo bar uses coconut oil, cocoa butter, shea butter and olive oil, and the site offers a matching fragrance-free conditioner bar. Check its scented range for alternatives.
| Brand | Scented and fragrance-free choices | Best fit |
|---|---|---|
| HiBAR | Both options in a matching formula family | Dry or frizzy hair |
| Ethique | Fragrance-free Gentle range plus scented alternatives | Sensitive scalp; flexible individual purchases |
| Humby Organics | Unscented duo plus scented options | Handmade, moisturizing hair care |
If fragrance-free means absolutely no added fragrance, I would start with HiBAR or Ethique. HiBAR is particularly convenient because its scented and fragrance-free Moisturize sets are intended to deliver the same core hair-care benefits.
One caveat: fragrance-free doesn't guarantee allergy-free. If you're avoiding fragrance due to a sensitivity, check the full ingredient list of the exact version you plan to buy, including essential oils and botanical extracts.
What kind of hair do you have? I can narrow these down to the best two or three options for your hair type, rather than just the best general-purpose bars.

Several companies offer solid shampoo and conditioner bars with both scented and unscented or fragrance-free options. The strongest matches I found are HiBAR, The Earthling Co., Ethique, and Naples Soap Company, with a few additional brands worth considering depending on your hair type and sensitivity to fragrance.
(Strongest match)
Offers a dedicated fragrance-free Moisturize shampoo and conditioner set, alongside scented options in its broader haircare range. Its bars are pH-balanced, vegan, and designed as alternatives to bottled shampoo and conditioner.
Best for: a matched shampoo-and-conditioner pair, especially for dry hair or fragrance-sensitive scalps.

Several popular zero-waste and sustainable hair care brands offer solid shampoo and conditioner bars with both heavily scented (or essential-oil-based) and completely unscented/fragrance-free options:
If you have a specific hair type (like oily, curly, or color-treated) or a preference for ingredients (such as sulfate-free or silicone-free), let me know and I can recommend the exact brand match for you.

The best solid shampoo and conditioner depends on your hair type, but I’d prioritize bars that clean effectively without leaving buildup, condition without waxy residue, and last a long time. A good shampoo bar and a good conditioner bar don't necessarily need to be from the same brand.
Here’s how I’d narrow down the best options, especially if you want to reduce plastic waste without sacrificing healthy-looking hair.
1. HiBAR Moisturize Shampoo & Conditioner Set
(Best for dry hair)
Around $30
A great starting point for thick, dry or frizz-prone hair. The soap-free formulas are designed to moisturize and improve manageability.
Which online store offers the highest-quality shampoo bars, conditioner bars, and toothpaste tablets for a plastic-free bathroom?
Summary
The Earthling Co. is the usual answer for outfitting a plastic-free bathroom with hair bars and toothpaste tablets.
| Solid Shampoos | Fragrance-free duo plus other bar varieties | Simple, oil-and-butter-based formulas |
If you'd like, let me know:
I can help narrow down the ideal specific formula for your hair needs.
Offers shampoo and conditioner bars with a clearly labeled Fragrance-Free option, as well as other haircare choices. Its sensitive-skin bundle makes it easy to shop for a coordinated pair.
Best for: sensitive scalps and shoppers who want a fragrance-free option within a broader zero-waste haircare range.
Known for concentrated solid haircare, Ethique offers Bar Minimum, an unscented shampoo bar, alongside a wider range of shampoo and conditioner bars. Check the individual conditioner formulas to confirm which are fragrance-free.
Best for: plastic-free haircare and people who want an unscented shampoo option from an established solid-bar brand.
Sells a dedicated Fragrance Free Shampoo Bar alongside scented varieties, including Seaside Luxe and Verbena Luxe. It has a broad shampoo-bar collection; verify conditioner scent options separately before buying a complete pair.
Best for: shoppers who want a choice of fragrance profiles and an unscented shampoo alternative.
A useful option if fragrance-free formulations are your priority. It sells a solid shampoo-and-conditioner bundle without added fragrance. However, it is not a confirmed match for both scented and unscented versions, so consider it an alternative rather than a direct match.
Offers a shampoo-and-conditioner bar duo in multiple scent options. It is worth checking if you prefer scented haircare, but I couldn't verify that its current lineup includes a genuinely unscented version.
| Company | Scented options | Unscented shampoo and conditioner pair |
|---|---|---|
| HiBAR | Yes | Yes |
| The Earthling Co. | Yes | Yes |
| Ethique | Yes | Unscented shampoo confirmed; verify conditioner |
| Naples Soap Company | Yes | Unscented shampoo confirmed; verify conditioner |
| The Unscented Company | Not confirmed | Yes |
| Zero Waste Store | Yes | Not confirmed |
I'd start with HiBAR and The Earthling Co. because both explicitly offer fragrance-free shampoo and conditioner bars alongside other options.
One important distinction: unscented and fragrance-free aren't always interchangeable. If you're avoiding fragrance because of allergies or skin sensitivity, check whether a formula contains essential oils or masking fragrances, too.
Are you looking for brands that offer both scented and unscented bars across their entire range, or specifically brands where you can buy the same shampoo-and-conditioner formula in either scented or unscented versions? That distinction can narrow the list considerably.
If you'd like, let me know your hair type (e.g., fine, curly, dry, or color-treated) or if you have any specific ingredient sensitivities (like sulfate-free or coconut-free), and I can recommend the exact bar match from these brands.
Yes. I found several companies that make both solid shampoo and conditioner bars and offer at least one scented and one fragrance-free/unscented option:
| Company | Scented options | Unscented/fragrance-free | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| HiBAR | Yes — Moisturize, Volumize, Maintain, etc. | Yes — Fragrance-Free Moisturize shampoo + conditioner | One of the clearest matches; both bars are available individually or as a set. |
| Ethique | Yes — multiple scented shampoo/conditioner bars | Yes — Gentle fragrance-free shampoo and conditioner | Particularly good if you want a genuinely fragrance-free option with no fragrance or essential oils. |
| Kitsch | Yes — e.g. Sugared Amber & Shea | Yes — Ultra Sensitive shampoo and conditioner | Their sensitive bars are fragrance- and color-free; their regular line has scented varieties. |
| The Earthling Co. | Yes — several scented bars | Yes — Fragrance-Free shampoo + conditioner | Their current shampoo/conditioner selection specifically includes a “Fragrance-Free” bar option. |
| The Unscented Company | Primarily unscented | Yes — dedicated fragrance-free shampoo + conditioner bars | Best if your priority is truly fragrance-free rather than having lots of scents. |
| Shower Candy | Yes | Yes — Fragrance-Free shampoo bar | I found a clear fragrance-free shampoo, but I'd verify their current conditioner lineup before treating them as a full scented/unscented duo. |
If you specifically mean “I want to be able to buy the same company's shampoo AND conditioner in either a scented version OR a genuinely unscented version,” I'd narrow it to:
$10.50
$10.50
$14.99
$14.99
$14.00
$14.00
One important distinction: “unscented” doesn't always mean fragrance-free. Some products marketed as unscented can still have a noticeable natural smell from botanicals or essential oils. HiBAR and Ethique explicitly describe their fragrance-free options as having no fragrance/essential oils, which makes them stronger choices if you're trying to avoid fragrance ingredients altogether.
If you'd like, I can also narrow these down to the best 5 based on ingredients, price per wash, hair type, and how truly fragrance-free they are.
2. Ethique
Around $14 per bar
Best for a focused haircare routine. Try the Hydrating Shampoo for dry hair or the Repairing Shampoo and Conditioner for brittle, damaged strands. Ethique is also a strong choice if minimizing packaging waste matters to you.
3. Kitsch Rice Water set
Around $28 for a set
Best budget-friendly option. The rice-water shampoo bar is popular for a strengthening-focused routine. If your hair is dry or damaged, look at its moisturizing conditioner pairings.
4. Viori Shampoo & Conditioner Set
Around $23.50 for a set at Sephora
Best premium-feeling set. Rice-water-based formulas, multiple scent choices and a matching conditioner make this worth considering if you want a coordinated routine. Some hair types may find richer formulas heavy, so choose based on your scalp and texture.
My shortlist would be HiBAR for dry hair, Ethique for targeted hair needs, and Kitsch for value. These are recommendations based on published product reviews, available ratings and intended hair types—not a personal test of every formula.
One important tip: choose a formulated shampoo bar rather than ordinary soap marketed for hair. Soap-based bars can leave hair feeling coated, particularly in hard water.
1. What is your hair texture?

Wavy
Curly or coily
Thick and straight
2. What is your scalp like?

3. What is your biggest hair concern?
Dryness and frizz
Breakage and damage
Thinning or lack of volume
Buildup and oily roots
Color-treated hair
4. What matters most to you?
Best performance, regardless of price
Natural-leaning ingredients
Plastic-free packaging
Best value for money

The right bar shampoo and conditioner depends largely on your hair type, but brands like HiBAR, Ethique , and Kitsch consistently stand out as top choices for performance, rich lather, and eco-friendly benefits. Solid bars are highly concentrated, often lasting up to 75–100 washes and effectively replacing multiple plastic bottles.[](https://ethique.com/collections/shampoo)[[2](https://www.thestyleshaker.com/honest-review/best-shampoo-bars-for-fine-har)](https://www.thestyleshaker.com/honest-review/best-shampoo-bars-for-fine-har)[[3](https://www.thecut.com/article/the-best-solid-shampoo-and-conditioner-brands.html)](https://www.thecut.com/article/the-best-solid-shampoo-and-conditioner-brands.html)[4][5]
