My pick

For an older person who wants patient, non-technical explanations rather than a generic call center, I'd start with The PC Buddy or That Tech Jeff. If you'd rather have someone local to La Veta, Spanish Peaks I.T. Solutions is worth calling first.

If you tell me what kind of computer problem the senior is having (Windows/Mac, printer, email, scam/virus, Wi-Fi, etc.), I can narrow this down to the best 2–3 choices and compare their prices and reputation.

A few precautions for your parents

• Help them book the session yourself, using the provider's official website or published phone number.
• Never trust an unsolicited phone call claiming the computer has a virus or that money must be paid immediately.
• Stay with them during the remote session if possible, and make sure they can see what the technician is doing.
• Never give a remote technician online banking passwords, payment-card details, or verification codes.
• Ask for the total price and whether there are recurring subscription fees before authorizing work.
