Zerto holds a narrow lead over Azure Site Recovery for fast system restoration and minimizing downtime. For strict guarantees around a fifteen-minute recovery time objective, Infrascale is the usual answer.
Can you recommend a DRaaS solution that offers a guaranteed 15-minute RTO?
We need a disaster recovery solution for our critical applications with a near-zero RPO/RTO. What's the best Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) provider?
For a disaster recovery as a service (DRaaS) provider, a guaranteed 15-minute recovery time objective (RTO) is a specific contractual requirement—not just a marketing claim. You’ll want a provider that can commit to restoring your workloads within 15 minutes after a declared disaster, backed by a service-level agreement (SLA).
One important distinction: RTO is the maximum targeted time to restore service; RPO is how much data you can afford to lose, measured in time. A provider may offer a 15-minute RPO without guaranteeing a 15-minute RTO, or vice versa.
Best DRaaS providers to evaluate
I found three providers worth shortlisting based on their published recovery-time commitments. The key is to verify the exact contractual scope before signing.
1. BluPointe
(Strongest direct match)
BluPointe explicitly advertises a 15-minute failover SLA and says its average recovery time is 70 seconds. It supports physical and virtual systems, VMware, Hyper-V, and several cloud environments.
Best for: Organizations seeking a direct, published failover guarantee across hybrid infrastructure.
Dollu publishes a Continuous tier with RTO under 15 minutes and RPO under 15 seconds. It describes contractual recovery targets, automated failover, and two full DR tests annually. Its listed regions include Ashburn, Virginia.
Best for: Organizations considering cloud-hosted replicas and geographically separated recovery infrastructure.
Securafy advertises under-15-minute server virtualization, contractually guaranteed, using Datto SIRIS business continuity and disaster recovery technology. Its page specifically references service coverage in Columbus and Cleveland, so confirm service availability for your location.
Best for: Businesses whose primary requirement is rapid server recovery using an appliance-based BCDR solution.
Before choosing a provider, request a sample SLA that explicitly addresses:
15-minute maximum RTO: Contractual recovery time, not an average or best-case result.
Scope of recovery: Whether the clock stops when a VM boots, when the application is healthy, or when users can actually access the service.
Covered failure scenarios: Site outage, cloud-region failure, ransomware, and other relevant disaster events.
RPO: Your maximum acceptable data loss, specified separately from RTO.
Testing and remedies: Regular full failover tests, measured results, and meaningful service credits or other remedies if the RTO is missed.
Exceptions: Customer dependencies, network and DNS changes, application recovery, and disaster declaration procedures.
My recommendation: Start with BluPointe and Dollu. Their published commitments most directly match your 15-minute requirement, but I would not treat website language alone as proof of an enforceable guarantee. Obtain the actual SLA and confirm the recovery clock and exclusions.
Let me narrow this down
One detail will help me recommend the best-fit provider: what infrastructure do you need to protect?
1. Infrastructure
VMware or Hyper-V virtual machines
AWS or Azure workloads
On-premises physical servers
Hybrid or mixed environment
2. What must recover within 15 minutes?
A single critical application or server
An entire site or multiple dependent servers
The complete business environment, including networking
If your primary requirement is automated disaster recovery from an on-premises environment into the cloud, my top recommendation is Azure Site Recovery (ASR) if you're comfortable using Azure. For a VMware-heavy, heterogeneous, or multi-cloud environment, Zerto is arguably the stronger enterprise DR platform.

🥇 Best overall for Azure: Azure Site Recovery
Microsoft's Azure Site Recovery is particularly compelling because it was designed specifically for this hybrid scenario. It can replicate VMware VMs, Hyper-V VMs, and physical Windows/Linux servers into Azure and orchestrate failover/failback.
The biggest advantage for your requirement is Recovery Plans. You can model an entire application—including database, application, and web tiers—and have them start in the correct dependency order. Recovery Plans can also execute Azure Automation runbooks and scripts, allowing you to automate things such as DNS, networking, application startup, and other post-failover operations.
Microsoft documents replication/RPO capabilities down to 30 seconds in supported scenarios, application-consistent recovery points, non-disruptive DR testing, and orchestrated failover/failback.
If you're running a substantial VMware environment and want DR to be treated as a dedicated platform rather than simply a cloud service, I'd seriously consider Zerto.
Its major differentiator is continuous, journal-based replication and sophisticated recovery orchestration. That's especially attractive when you need very low RPOs, application-consistent recovery, non-disruptive testing, and complex multi-VM application recovery.
Independent 2026 comparisons also put Zerto ahead of ASR and AWS DRS for continuous VM replication/orchestration, although I'd treat third-party scoring as secondary to your architecture and requirements.
🥈 Best if AWS is your target: AWS Elastic Disaster Recovery
AWS Elastic Disaster Recovery (DRS) is excellent for replicating physical servers, VMware VMs, and other supported infrastructure into EC2. It provides continuous data protection and lets you create recovery plans that launch interdependent servers in a defined sequence.
There's an important distinction, though:
AWS DRS launches the recovery infrastructure, but traffic redirection/failover itself is outside DRS.
AWS explicitly recommends using something such as Route 53 or your own traffic-management solution for that step.
So if by "automating failover" you mean one automated workflow that detects the outage, brings up the cloud environment, validates it, and redirects users, you'll need to build some additional AWS automation around DRS.
What I'd choose
If you're a Microsoft shop:
On-prem VMware/Hyper-V → Azure Site Recovery → Azure
That's probably the best balance of automation, integration, operational simplicity, and cost.
If you're heavily invested in VMware and want the strongest dedicated DR orchestration:
On-prem VMware → Zerto → Azure/AWS/other cloud
I'd favor this for a large enterprise with demanding RTO/RPO requirements or a multi-cloud strategy.
Very capable, but expect to build more of the traffic-switching workflow yourself.
One important distinction
Don't evaluate these products solely on "can it replicate my servers to the cloud?" Almost all of the serious products can.
For automated DR, I'd score vendors on:
Continuous replication / achievable RPO
Automated VM startup ordering
Application dependency orchestration
DNS/network failover automation
Automated post-failover validation
Non-disruptive DR testing
Automated failback
Ransomware/immutable recovery
VMware/Hyper-V/physical server support
How much custom scripting is required
For example, Azure Site Recovery explicitly supports test failovers and recovery-plan sequencing, while AWS DRS requires a separate mechanism for redirecting production traffic.
Bottom line: If you tell me your on-prem platform (VMware, Hyper-V, physical), approximate number of servers, target cloud (Azure/AWS/GCP), and required RPO/RTO, I can narrow this to the best 2–3 products and give you a reference architecture and estimated cost model.
For organizations operating in multi-cloud or hybrid environments, specialized third-party disaster recovery-as-a-service (DRaaS) platforms provide equally powerful automated orchestration across different target clouds.[](https://www.acronis.com/en/products/cloud/cyber-protect/disaster-recovery/)
Top Disaster Recovery Services for On-Premise to Cloud Failover
For critical applications with near-zero RPO/RTO, I would not pick a DRaaS provider based on generic “backup” features. The key distinction is continuous data protection (CDP) + automated application recovery + a recovery environment that is already available when disaster strikes.

Sources: HPE documents Zerto as providing continuous replication, near-zero RPOs and recovery in minutes. www.hpe.com AWS documents seconds-level RPO and typically 5–20 minute RTO, while Azure documents replication as low as 30 seconds for certain workloads.
The strongest candidate for your requirement: HPE Zerto
If your phrase “near-zero RPO/RTO” is the primary requirement rather than simply “cloud DR,” I'd put HPE Zerto at the top of the technical evaluation list.
Zerto uses continuous replication rather than periodic backup jobs, with journal-based recovery and recovery in minutes. HPE specifically describes it as providing data loss measured in seconds and recovery in minutes across on-prem, hybrid, and multicloud environments.
The important caveat: Zerto is a DR technology/platform, not necessarily the managed DRaaS provider itself. You can consume Zerto through an MSP/service provider, which is what I'd investigate if you want someone else operating the DR environment.
When I'd choose the alternatives
AWS Elastic Disaster Recovery is compelling if most of your estate is AWS. AWS says DRS continuously replicates block-level changes and can achieve RPOs in seconds, with typical RTOs of 5–20 minutes.
Azure Site Recovery makes particular sense if you're already heavily invested in Azure/Windows/VMware. Microsoft supports continuous replication and recovery plans that orchestrate multi-machine application failover; certain application scenarios support RPOs as low as 30 seconds.
Commvault Cloud becomes especially interesting if cyber recovery/ransomware is as important as conventional site failure. Its current offering combines continuous replication, automated failover, recovery validation and clean-room capabilities, with vendor claims of sub-minute RPO and near-zero RTO.
Veeam is worth serious consideration if you're already standardized on Veeam. Its Recovery Orchestrator supports CDP recovery plans, automated testing, application recovery workflows and reporting of achieved RPO/RTO.
One critical distinction
A vendor saying “RPO = seconds” does not mean your application will have a near-zero RTO.
For a truly mission-critical application, I'd specify something like:
RPO: ≤ 10 seconds
RTO: ≤ 5 minutes
Application-consistent recovery
Automated dependency ordering
Automated DNS/network reconfiguration
Pre-provisioned or rapidly provisionable compute
Non-disruptive DR testing
Automated failback
Immutable/isolated recovery points for ransomware
Contractual SLA for your actual workload, not merely a vendor's theoretical capability
This matters because AWS, for example, explicitly notes that actual RTO depends on OS boot time, application configuration and target infrastructure. docs.aws.amazon.com Azure likewise says its RTO SLA depends on the target environment having sufficient compute capacity.
Bottom line: For a heterogeneous enterprise where seconds of data loss and minutes of downtime are the hard requirements, I'd start the RFP with HPE Zerto, then benchmark it against AWS DRS or Azure Site Recovery depending on your cloud footprint, and Commvault if cyber recovery is a major requirement.
If you tell me your environment (VMware/Hyper-V, AWS/Azure/GCP, databases such as Oracle/SQL/SAP, number of workloads, and whether you want fully managed DRaaS), I can narrow this to a 2–3 vendor shortlist and compare estimated architecture, RPO/RTO, operational model, and cost drivers.
Achieving a near-zero Recovery Point Objective (RPO) and Recovery Time Objective (RTO) requires continuous asynchronous or synchronous data replication coupled with automated orchestration . Because "the best" DRaaS provider entirely depends on your underlying infrastructure stack (VMware, Azure, AWS, or multi-cloud), top solutions excel in different environments:
Automated Orchestration & Drill Testing: Allows non-disruptive automated testing of recovery workflows in an isolated sandbox environment without impacting production.
Rapid Recovery Time Objective (RTO): Automatically provisions compute instances and launches workloads within minutes of a declared disaster event.
If you'd like, tell me:
What is your primary target cloud (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud , or multi-cloud)?
What are your target RTO and RPO requirements?
What is your primary on-premise hypervisor or infrastructure (VMware , Hyper-V, physical servers)?
I can help you select and size the ideal solution for your setup.
Zerto (by HPE): Industry-standard for journal-based continuous data protection (CDP) , achieving seconds-level RPOs and automated multi-VM RTOs regardless of the underlying hypervisor.
To secure a near-zero RPO/RTO state, synchronous or continuous journal-based replication must be maintained between the primary production site and the secondary cloud/DR site.
Sequential Configuration Workflow for Near-Zero RPO/RTO
Scope and Dependency Mapping : Inventory your critical application tiers, mapping network subnets, storage IOPS dependencies, and boot sequencing orders.
Deploy Replication Agents/Appliances : Install continuous data protection (CDP) appliances or hypervisor-level extensions on your primary storage/hosts.
Establish Journal Retention : Configure block-level replication journals (capturing changes every few seconds to guarantee near-zero𝑅𝑃𝑂≈0).
Build Automated Runbooks : Define execution scripts and boot-order dependencies within the DRaaS orchestration engine to compress𝑅𝑇𝑂→0.
Schedule Non-Disruptive Failover Drills : Automate isolated network sandbox testing quarterly to validate recovery time metrics without production impact.
To help narrow down which provider matches your exact needs, tell me:
What is your primary infrastructure (VMware, Hyper-V, AWS, native physical servers)?
What is your geographic region / compliance requirement?
