NFL betting pool creation

When setting up an NFL pool or pick'em league with friends, the "best" app depends on the style of game you want to play (traditional pick'em, survivor, squares, or actual peer-to-peer wagering).

The top-rated platforms for creating custom friend groups and private leagues break down by style:

• RunYourPool — The gold standard for custom commissioner-led private pools. It supports a massive variety of formats including traditional NFL Pick'em (against the spread or straight up), Survivor pools, confidence pools, and weekly football squares. It handles all the automated scoring and standings updates seamlessly, though it charges a hosting fee based on the size of your group. You can check it out via RunYourPool.[apps.apple.com](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/runyourpool/id1662531821)[[2](https://www.playoffpickems.com/best-pickem-pool-app)](https://www.playoffpickems.com/best-pickem-pool-app)
• Yahoo! Sports Fantasy — If you want a completely free option with native mobile support, Yahoo remains a classic choice. It features robust, easy-to-setup private group tools for weekly NFL Pick’em and Survivor leagues where you can invite friends via a simple custom link or group ID. Get started through Yahoo! Sports.
• PoolsByRound / EasyOfficePools — Highly recommended if you want to run a pool at scale without charging your friends platform fees. They offer free tiers for standard pick'em formats and let participants log in and make their own choices directly, saving the commissioner from manual tracking.[apps.apple.com](https://www.playoffpickems.com/best-pickem-pool-app)
• Sleeper — While primarily famous for reinventing fantasy football leagues with social features and modern chat interfaces, Sleeper has expanded into other pick-style gameplay. It’s the best choice if your group values a slick, app-first social experience with built-in group messaging. Explore their platform on Sleeper.
• DraftKings / FanDuel (Social/Private Contests) — If your group is in a legal sports betting state and wants to wager real money against each other rather than just tracking points, major sportsbooks allow you to create private pools or custom group contests where you can pool entries or sweat games together. Check out options like DraftKings Sportsbook or FanDuel.[apps.apple.com](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/runyourpool/id1662531821)

To help narrow down the ideal choice, let me know:

• What type of pool you want to play (Pick'em straight-up, against the spread, Survivor, or squares)?
• Do you want a free platform or are you willing to pay a small fee for advanced customization?

For a private NFL pool among friends, the strongest options I found are:

• dev.runyourpool.com — probably the most established option. It supports NFL Pick’em, straight-up or against the spread, automatic standings, weekly deadlines, and private pools. It also supports survivor and other pool formats. The platform says it has 6.5M+ users and 600K+ contests.Run Your Pool+1
• officepoolstop.com — worth considering if you want lots of formats (Pick’em, confidence, survivor, squares, etc.). Premium is a one-time seasonal fee, rather than a subscription.OfficePoolStop
• officepools.com — a very inexpensive, straightforward option: its 2026 NFL Pick’em pool is listed at $10 for the season, with automatic scoring and standings.Office Pools+1
• footballpool.app — newer and particularly simple. It supports Pick’em, confidence, survivor, reverse-survivor, and custom tiebreakers; free for up to four players, then pricing scales by group size.Office Pool

What I'd look at for your group

If you're talking about 10–30 friends putting, say, $20–$100 each into a season-long pool, I'd focus on RunYourPool vs. OfficePools. RunYourPool gives you considerably more commissioner functionality; OfficePools is much cheaper and simpler.

One important distinction: if by "betting pool" you mean everyone contributes actual money and the winner(s) get the pot, rather than simply tracking picks and settling up yourselves, tell me that. The legal/payment features are quite different, and I can compare the platforms specifically for handling the money, payouts, and Ohio rules.

If you mean a private NFL pool for friends—where everyone picks games each week and you want automatic standings—the strongest current options break down like this:

Platform	Best fit	Key features	Cost
RunYourPool / Splash Sports	Larger or more serious pools	Pick’em, survivor, confidence, squares, message board, automated scoring, lots of customization	Paid; pricing varies by entries
ESPN Fantasy & Pick'em	Simple, familiar groups	Free, established app, easy NFL pick’em experience	Free
Yahoo Fantasy	Casual groups already using Yahoo	Free NFL pick’em, private groups, familiar mobile experience	Free
Sportsball	Modern private friend groups	Private leagues, live scoring, no in-game ads, iOS/Android apps, multiple scoring formats	About $9.99/season for the host
Trofeo	Small groups wanting simple setup	Pick’em, survivor, squares, one-link joining, no app/account required for players	Free for small groups
TourneyRun	Friends wanting several pool types	Pick’em, survivor, confidence, squares, TD Chase; mobile-friendly	Free to create; emphasizes no platform rake

Current 2026 comparisons consistently highlight RunYourPool for established/customizable pools, while newer platforms such as Sportsball and Trofeo emphasize simpler private leagues and easier joining.www.playoffpickems.com

What I'd look at for a friends' pool

• 10–20 friends, just want something easy: Trofeo or Sportsball
• 20–100+ people / office-style pool: RunYourPool
• Everyone already uses ESPN or Yahoo: their built-in pick’em products are the path of least resistance
• Want Survivor + Pick’em + Squares in the same league: RunYourPool, Trofeo, or TourneyRun
• Want confidence points / against-the-spread scoring: look at RunYourPool or a specialized platform such as The Pick'em Pool.www.thepickempool.com

One important distinction: "NFL pool" can mean several different games—straight-up pick'em, confidence points, against-the-spread, survivor, squares, etc. If you tell me how many friends you have and which format you want, I can compare the 3 best options side-by-side, including exact 2026 pricing and whether everyone needs an account/app.
