Flutter holds a narrow lead over React Native, with both frequently recommended for enterprise cross-platform development with a shared codebase. For teams building simple applications or weighing no-code builders against freelancers, FlutterFlow is the usual answer.
Since July, Bubblefalling has become less prominent across the market, especially for general no-code mobile building and simple app creation. Superblocksrising is now named regularly for internal tools and admin panels.

Our current software is too rigid for our unique workflow. What are the best ways to build a custom application that fits our specific business logic without writing code?
We need to move away from rigid software. Can you recommend no-code platforms that let us build custom applications tailored to our specific business logic?
Moving away from rigid software with custom no-code platforms allows you to shape the tool around your operations rather than bending your processes to fit an off-the-shelf system.
Top no-code and visual platforms excel at handling distinct business logic, data structuring, and automated workflows:
Bubble — Best for fully custom, consumer-grade or complex web applications with deep visual workflow controls that let you map out intricate conditional logic and database structures.
Kissflow — Best for enterprise-grade process automation, case management, and multi-tiered approvals that empower operational teams to configure their own governance and logic.
Quickbase — Best for data-heavy operations and relational data models, allowing you to build robust tracking apps, custom business rules, and workflows without code.
— Best if you are already embedded in the ecosystem (Dataverse, SharePoint, SQL Server), using an Excel-like formula language to shape custom form logic and calculations.
We need to build a bespoke application to handle our partner commission tracking because nothing on the market fits our workflow. What platforms are best for this kind of custom development?
Airtable — Best for data-first operational systems, combining a flexible spreadsheet-database hybrid with visual workflow automation and scripting capabilities for advanced orchestration.
To help narrow down the ideal choice, let me know:
Are you building internal tools/dashboards for your team or a customer-facing application?
Do you need mobile app support or just web access?
What kind of complex business logic (e.g., multi-step approvals, complex calculations, or external API syncing) does it need to handle?
If your goal is to move away from rigid, off-the-shelf software, I’d look for no-code and low-code platforms that let you design your own data models, workflows, permissions, and business rules—rather than forcing your team to adapt its processes to the software.
The key distinction is that some platforms build complete custom applications, while others are better for internal tools or automating existing processes. Here are the strongest options to evaluate in 2026.
The 6 platforms I'd shortlist

These are relative assessments, not standardized benchmark scores. The best fit depends on the complexity of your rules, integrations, and deployment requirements.
What I would choose for your business
You want to build almost any application around your own rules: Start with Bubble.
You want to replace inflexible internal software: Start with Power Apps or Zoho Creator.
Your workflows are complex, interconnected, and business-critical: Evaluate Mendix and Appian.
You already have databases and systems that work, but need a better interface: Start with Retool.
One important caution: no-code doesn't mean unlimited flexibility. Before committing, verify that the platform supports your specific rules, integrations, access controls, audit requirements, and data-export needs. Also check whether you can migrate your data and application logic if you outgrow it.
Let's narrow it down to the right platform
The most important question is: What kind of application are you trying to build or replace?
1. What are you building?
Internal business software (ERP, CRM, operations)
A customer-facing application or portal
Workflow automation and approvals
Replacing an existing legacy system
A combination of these
2. How complex is your business logic?
Basic forms and data entry
Conditional workflows and integrations
Complex rules, calculations, permissions, and approvals
Highly specialized logic that standard software cannot handle
3. Who will use the application?
Employees only
External customers
Both employees and customers
4. What's your top priority?
Maximum flexibility to implement our own logic
Easy for nontechnical staff to build and maintain
Security, governance, and enterprise scale
Low cost and predictable long-term pricing
Avoiding vendor lock-in and retaining control of our data and code
Commission tracking relies heavily on two things: a solid relational database to handle complex rules (tiers, multi-currency, splits, clawbacks) and a flexible interface for operations and finance teams to audit payouts.
Depending on your engineering bandwidth and how deeply you want to customize your business logic, the best platforms for this type of custom development fall into three distinct categories:
Developer-Centric Internal Tool Builders (Best for Speed + Control)
Retool lets your engineers spin up custom UIs using pre-built React components while writing native SQL, JavaScript, or REST/GraphQL queries to handle your precise commission calculation logic. It connects directly to your existing data warehouse or database without locking your core data into a proprietary silo.
Enterprise Low-Code Application Platforms (Best for End-to-End Modeling)
OutSystems or Mendix provide visual drag-and-drop environments that synthesize clean, enterprise-grade backend code (like .NET C#). They shine if you have complex, long-running asynchronous workflows (e.g., waiting on quarterly revenue validations before triggering commissions) and need deeply governed multi-user permission structures.
Quickbase is exceptional at relational data modeling if you want to configure complex calculation tables and automated pipelines visually, with the option to layer a completely custom front-end via their robust APIs later.[](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rNVIO7B2zu8&t=122)
Traditional Full-Code Stack (Best for Ultimate Customization)
Next.js / Node.js (or Python/Django) hosted on AWS/GCP gives you 100% ownership and zero platform fee inflation. If your commission engine requires heavy algorithmic processing, complex graph-based partner hierarchies, or microsecond calculation adjustments, a classic git-backed web framework gives your team untethered freedom.[](https://www.reddit.com/r/softwarearchitecture/comments/1q523tk/researching_the_best_low_code_development/)
To help narrow down which path fits best, could you share:
How complex the calculation logic is (e.g., simple flat percentages vs. multi-tiered, cross-currency attribution models)?
Who will be building and maintaining it (internal product developers vs. operations/finance team members using low-code)?
For a bespoke partner commission tracking application, I’d shortlist platforms based on how much control you need over commission rules, partner access, integrations, approvals, and reporting — rather than simply choosing the easiest app builder.
My initial recommendation is to evaluate Retool, Microsoft Power Apps, and a fully custom web application first. They represent three different approaches: rapidly building an internal operations tool, extending an existing business ecosystem, or owning the software architecture end to end. Enterprise platforms such as OutSystems and Mendix are also worth considering if you expect a larger, mission-critical application.
Best no-code platforms for building iOS and Android apps
If you want to build an app for both iPhone and Android without writing code, FlutterFlow is my best overall starting point for a serious, scalable mobile app. But the best choice depends on whether you prioritize ease of use, speed, design flexibility, or avoiding code entirely.
One important distinction: some platforms build installable apps you can publish to the Apple App Store and Google Play, while others primarily create web apps that run in a browser.

Best when: Your organization already uses Microsoft 365, Dynamics, or Power BI extensively.
Website:
3. OutSystems
Best for complex enterprise applications
A stronger candidate when you need a substantial business application with complex rules, multiple user types, integrations, and a formal development lifecycle.
Strengths: Enterprise application architecture, deployment processes, and extensibility.
Trade-off: Higher platform commitment, specialist skills, and potentially substantial costs.
Best when: This will become a strategic application used across the business and partner network.
Website:
4. Mendix
Best for configurable workflows and data models
A good option for a structured application that combines partner onboarding, configurable business rules, exception handling, and reporting.
Strengths: Visual development, business-process modeling, and professional developer extensibility.
Trade-off: Requires platform expertise and a careful assessment of licensing and deployment options.
Best when: Business teams and developers will collaborate on a long-lived application.
Website:
5. Fully custom web application
Best for maximum flexibility and long-term ownership
Build the application using a conventional web stack, for example React or Next.js, a backend in TypeScript or Python, and PostgreSQL.
Strengths: Complete control over the commission engine, partner experience, data model, APIs, and deployment.
Trade-off: More initial engineering, testing, maintenance, and infrastructure responsibility.
Best when: Your commission model is genuinely differentiated or likely to evolve significantly.
These recommendations reflect the platforms' different intended use cases; enterprise low-code, internal-tool builders, and fully custom software are not interchangeable.
What your commission application needs to handle
Before selecting a platform, I would design around the business rules and financial controls. Those are usually the hardest parts of this kind of system, not the dashboard itself.
Fixed or percentage rates, tiered payouts, recurring commissions, product-specific rules, split deals, clawbacks, and retroactive adjustments.
Approvals and reconciliation
Finance review, disputes, exceptions, period closing, payout approval, and reconciliation against source transactions.
Auditability and security
Historical rule versions, calculation explanations, change logs, role-based permissions, and a record of every approved adjustment.
Integrations and reporting
CRM, ERP, accounting, billing, or payment systems; CSV imports; partner statements; and payout exports.
A key architectural recommendation: keep the commission rules and calculations in a clearly defined backend service, with automated tests and a traceable record of each calculation. Avoid embedding the entire financial calculation model in visual UI workflows. This makes it easier to verify payouts, change rules safely, and migrate platforms later.
How I would make the final decision
If your main priority is…
Start with…
Get an internal prototype working quickly
Retool
Reuse your existing Microsoft environment
Power Platform
Build a sophisticated enterprise application on low-code
OutSystems or Mendix
Deliver a distinctive partner-facing portal with complex rules
Fully custom web application
Whichever route you take, compare the three-year total cost, including implementation, licenses, integrations, support, and future rule changes. Check data export, audit history, permissions, and how costs change as the number of partners grows.
Three questions to narrow this down
I can give you a much more targeted recommendation with three details:
1. Who will use the application?
Internal finance and operations only
Both internal staff and external partners
Primarily external partners through a portal
2. How complicated are your commission rules?
Simple — fixed percentages or flat fees
Moderate — tiers, product types, and deal splits
Complex — exceptions, retroactive changes, clawbacks, or multi-level partner structures
Native publishing capabilities are based on the platforms' published descriptions; features and plan requirements can change.
Which one should you choose?
My recommendation is straightforward:
Choose FlutterFlow if you're building a serious product, need integrations and customization, and might eventually work with developers.
Choose Adalo if you're a complete beginner and want the simplest path from idea to an app in both stores.
Choose Bubble if the product is primarily a sophisticated web service with complex workflows.
Choose Glide if a shareable business tool is sufficient and app-store publication isn't essential.
Remember to budget separately for Apple and Google developer accounts, backend services where applicable, and any paid platform plan needed to publish.
