Dangerzone takes potentially dangerous documents (PDFs, office files, or images) and converts them into safe PDFs by rendering the document to raw pixel data in a secure sandbox and then reconstructing it locally as a PDF. The sandbox has no network access, preventing data exfiltration, and the tool supports more than 20 file types, including PDFs, major office formats, and common image types. It is free and open-source under the AGPLv3 license, maintained by the Freedom of the Press Foundation as a public good.
