If by “seller debit cards” you mean cards issued to marketplace sellers so they can spend their marketplace balance, while the platform also needs instant seller payouts + API-driven KYC/onboarding, the strongest options are:
| Platform | Seller debit cards | Instant payouts | KYC/onboarding APIs | Marketplace fit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Adyen | ✅ Visa/Mastercard physical & virtual debit cards | ✅ Bank + card payouts; instant card payouts | ✅ Marketplace verification/KYC | Excellent |
| Stripe | ✅ Issuing, including Connect-based programs | ✅ Instant Payouts to eligible bank/debit-card accounts | ✅ Connect KYC/verification APIs | Excellent |
| Marqeta | ✅ Physical/virtual debit cards | ⚠️ Strong account/card funding infrastructure; payout rail usually needs another provider | ✅ Dedicated KYC API | Very good for issuing; less turnkey for marketplace money movement |
| Modern Treasury | ⚠️ Not primarily a card issuer | ✅ Instant push-to-card payouts in the U.S. | ⚠️ Not an all-in-one marketplace KYC/issuing solution | Good as payout infrastructure |
Adyen is probably the most direct match if you want marketplace payments + seller accounts + KYC + cards + payouts under one infrastructure stack.
Its marketplace product lets platforms issue customizable Visa/Mastercard debit cards to users, while its Balance Platform handles accounts, balances and cards.
For payouts, Adyen supports sellers/vendors/gig workers and can pay to bank accounts, cards, and Adyen-issued cards. Its instant card payout capability supports Visa and Mastercard, with funds typically becoming available within minutes.
Adyen also performs marketplace KYC/verification before allowing users to process payments, receive payouts, or access financial products.
Best when: you want one provider to own the marketplace ledger/accounts, seller verification, issuing and payout infrastructure.
Stripe is particularly compelling if you're already using Stripe Connect.
Connect provides marketplace onboarding and KYC/AML checks, including API-based collection of verification information.
It also supports Instant Payouts, allowing eligible connected accounts to receive funds typically within 30 minutes, including payouts to eligible debit cards.
Stripe also supports Issuing + Connect, allowing cards to be issued for connected businesses/users. There are, however, important architectural constraints: the Issuing/Connect integration uses connected accounts and currently requires the platform to take responsibility for requirements collection and loss liability for the relevant setup.
Best when: your marketplace already runs on Stripe and you prioritize APIs, documentation and rapid implementation.
Marqeta is more of a card-issuing/account infrastructure specialist than an end-to-end marketplace PSP.
It supports physical, virtual and tokenized debit cards, account opening, funding mechanisms and card controls. Marqeta It also exposes a KYC endpoint for verifying U.S. individual and business account holders.
The tradeoff is that you generally need to assemble more of the marketplace payments/payout stack around it than you would with Stripe or Adyen.
Best when: the seller debit card is the core product and you want deep control over the card program.
Modern Treasury's PSP now supports 24/7/365 instant payouts to U.S. debit cards through Visa Direct and Mastercard Send, explicitly targeting marketplaces, gig platforms and similar businesses.
But I wouldn't treat it as the primary answer if your requirement is a single platform providing issuing + marketplace KYC + seller accounts + payouts. It's more naturally a component in a multi-provider architecture.
If you're designing a marketplace today, I'd evaluate them in this order:
One important distinction: “instant payout” can mean two different things. A provider may offer instant payouts to a seller's existing debit card, while a different product actually issues a debit card whose balance represents the seller's marketplace funds. Adyen and Stripe are particularly interesting because they can address both sides of that architecture, whereas Marqeta is primarily the issuing/account side.
If you tell me your seller geography (U.S./EU/global), marketplace type, and whether the card should spend directly from the seller's marketplace balance, I can narrow this to the 2–3 best architectures and compare fees, KYC responsibility, ledger model, card funding, payout rails, and licensing requirements.

Yes. If by “seller debit cards” you mean cards issued to marketplace sellers that can be funded from their marketplace earnings, plus instant seller payouts and programmatic KYC/onboarding, the strongest options I’d shortlist in 2026 are:
| Platform | Seller debit-card issuing | Instant payouts | KYC / seller onboarding API | Marketplace fit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Stripe | ✅ Stripe Issuing | ✅ Bank account + eligible debit card | ✅ Connect Accounts/Persons + Identity | Excellent |
| Adyen | ✅ Visa/Mastercard debit cards | ✅ Bank + card payouts | ✅ Platforms verification/KYC | Excellent |
| Moov | ✅ Virtual Visa cards (currently beta) | ✅ RTP/FedNow + push-to-card | ✅ Account verification/capabilities | Very good, especially US |
| Unit | ✅ Debit cards | ✅ Instant-payment capabilities | ✅ Application/onboarding APIs | Good, but more banking-centric |
| Highnote | ✅ Debit/credit/prepaid issuing | ✅ Real-time card payouts | ⚠️ Strong onboarding, but less marketplace-KYC-centric | Good for card-led programs |
Stripe is unusually complete because Connect handles marketplace sellers, payments, KYC, balances and payouts, while Stripe Issuing can provide the seller's debit card.
Connect explicitly supports instant payouts to a seller's bank account or debit card, and Stripe's API-based onboarding lets the platform submit seller KYC information through the Accounts and Persons APIs.
Best when: you want the least fragmented implementation and already use Stripe for marketplace payments.
One architectural distinction: Stripe's Instant Payout is a payout to the seller's eligible external debit card; Stripe Issuing is what you'd use if you want to issue the seller a card yourself. Those are complementary capabilities rather than the same feature.
Adyen is perhaps the closest direct alternative if you want payments + marketplace accounts + KYC + issuing + payouts under one provider.
Adyen for Platforms supports seller onboarding and verification, split payments, balances and payouts. Its Issuing product can issue customizable Visa/Mastercard virtual and physical debit cards to marketplace users.
It also supports instant payouts to Visa/Mastercard cards, typically arriving within minutes, as well as payouts to bank accounts.
Best when: you're building a larger/global marketplace and want a single payments/issuing infrastructure provider.
Moov combines wallets, payment acceptance, payouts, verification and card issuing. Its capabilities include instant bank payouts through RTP, push-to-card through Visa Direct/Mastercard Send, and card issuing.
The important caveat is that Moov's card issuing is currently described as closed beta and currently issues Visa virtual cards, so I'd treat it as an emerging option rather than an equivalent to Stripe/Adyen for a production marketplace card program.
Best when: your marketplace is primarily US-based and you want wallet + payout rails + issuing in one API.
Unit provides accounts/wallets, debit-card issuing and money movement as a unified financial infrastructure layer. Its API quickstart, for example, creates an individual customer, funds an account and creates a virtual debit card.
Unit also supports instant-payment infrastructure, and its marketplace/gig-economy use cases include debit-card-based instant earnings.
Best when: you want each seller to have an actual financial account + debit card rather than simply adding a payout card to a marketplace account.
Highnote is particularly interesting if the seller card itself is a major product surface. Its unified platform covers issuing, acquiring and money movement, and it supports debit, credit and prepaid card programs.
Its Instant Payments capability can push funds from Highnote-issued cards to external debit/prepaid cards in near real time.
I'd put it behind Stripe/Adyen for a conventional marketplace where seller KYC and marketplace payments are the primary requirements, but ahead of them if sophisticated card-program control is the priority.
If I were evaluating this for a new marketplace, I'd narrow it to:
The key question is what you mean by “seller debit card.” There are two substantially different architectures:
Stripe and Adyen can support both models, which is why I'd start with those two for a marketplace RFP.

| Adyen for Platforms + Issuing | ✅ Visa/Mastercard debit cards | ✅ Instant card & bank payouts | ✅ Legal Entity + verification APIs | Excellent |
| Marqeta | ✅ Virtual/physical debit cards | ⚠️ Fast access/account funding, but marketplace payout stack is less unified | ✅ KYC capabilities | Good, if cards are the core product |
| Lithic | ✅ Virtual/physical debit cards | ✅ Instant card disbursements | ⚠️ Strong account-holder/compliance infrastructure, but less turnkey marketplace KYC | Good for fintech/card infrastructure |
Stripe is unusually well aligned with your exact requirements. Connect is purpose-built for marketplaces: it handles seller onboarding/KYC, balances and payouts, while Issuing can create cards for connected accounts. Stripe explicitly documents an Issuing + Connect integration for issuing cards to connected accounts.
For payouts, Connect supports Instant Payouts, including payouts to a seller's bank account or debit card; Stripe says Instant Payouts typically settle within about 30 minutes.
Its onboarding stack includes identity verification, risk-based KYC/AML checks for individuals and businesses, sanctions screening, and API-based onboarding.
Best if: you want one vendor for marketplace payments + seller KYC + payouts + seller debit cards.
Adyen's marketplace product combines seller accounts, payouts, KYC/verification and card issuing. Its Marketplace documentation explicitly says platforms can issue customizable Visa/Mastercard virtual and physical debit cards to users.
Adyen also supports instant payouts to third-party Visa/Mastercard cards, with funds typically becoming available within two minutes and within 30 minutes depending on the issuer.
For KYC, its Legal Entity Management and Configuration APIs let you build API-only seller onboarding, while Adyen performs the verification checks and exposes verification status through its APIs/webhooks.
Best if: you're building a larger/global marketplace and want sophisticated payments, seller accounts, compliance and issuing under one infrastructure provider.
Marqeta is very strong if the seller debit card itself is the product. It supports physical, virtual and tokenized debit cards, account infrastructure, real-time transaction data and KYC capabilities.
The caveat is architectural: compared with Stripe Connect or Adyen for Platforms, you'll generally be assembling more of the marketplace seller/payments/payout orchestration yourself.
Best if: you want maximum control over the card program and already have—or are willing to build—the marketplace money-movement layer.
Lithic provides ledger/account infrastructure, instant virtual and physical debit-card issuance, and real-time balances. Its disbursement product can send funds instantly to cards as well as through ACH/book transfers.
It's attractive if your marketplace is effectively becoming a financial product, but its proposition is more card/banking infrastructure than a Stripe-Connect-style marketplace abstraction.
If your requirements are literally:
Marketplace → seller onboarding/KYC → seller balance → instant payout → branded seller debit card
I'd rank them:
1. Stripe Connect + Issuing — easiest unified architecture
2. Adyen for Platforms + Issuing — strongest enterprise/global alternative
3. Marqeta — best if card control is the priority
4. Lithic — best if you're building a fintech-like ledger/card product
One important distinction: "instant payout" can mean either paying earnings to an existing seller debit card or issuing a debit card whose balance itself represents the seller's funds. Stripe and Adyen can support both patterns, but the exact regulatory, country, card-program and underwriting requirements differ. For a US marketplace, I'd evaluate Stripe vs. Adyen first, then bring Marqeta/Lithic into the process if you need more control over the card/ledger layer.

Building a marketplace that provides sellers with instant access to funds via branded debit cards requires an infrastructure stack combining multivendor payment processing, integrated KYC/KYB onboarding APIs, real-time push-to-card or fast ACH payouts, and programmatic card issuing.
The primary card-issuing and embedded finance platforms capable of supporting these capabilities vary by regional coverage, developer complexity, and degree of out-of-the-box marketplace support:
If you share your target geography (US-only vs. global) and whether you prefer an all-in-one turnkey platform (like Stripe) or a modular BaaS stack (like Unit/Marqeta), I can help recommend the best architectural fit for your marketplace.

Stripe Connect supports marketplace onboarding/KYC, seller balances and payouts, while Stripe Issuing lets you create physical and virtual cards. Connect explicitly supports instant payouts to a seller's bank account or debit card, and Stripe handles identity verification/KYC/AML and sanctions checks for connected accounts.
The important architectural advantage is that you can combine:
Buyer payment → seller Connect balance → instant payout → seller's debit card
or potentially use Issuing so the seller spends marketplace earnings directly through your branded card program.
Best if: you want one provider handling payments, marketplace accounts, KYC, payouts, and cards rather than assembling multiple vendors.
Adyen for Platforms combines marketplace onboarding/KYC, payouts and financial products. Adyen explicitly supports issuing Visa/Mastercard physical and virtual debit cards to marketplace users.
It also supports instant payouts to Visa and Mastercard cards, with funds typically becoming available in about two minutes, although the provider says it can take up to 30 minutes depending on the issuer.
For KYC, Adyen verifies marketplace users before allowing them to receive payouts or use financial products, and its issuing onboarding supports hosted or API-only onboarding.
Best if: you're building a large/global marketplace and want payments + acquiring + issuing + accounts + payouts under one enterprise infrastructure.
Marqeta is unusually well matched to the seller-card concept. Its marketplace materials specifically describe physical seller cards issued to newly onboarded sellers, with funds transferred following each sale and becoming available for near-instant use. Its JIT Funding capability lets the marketplace fund the card in real time.
There's even a concrete example: Payability uses Marqeta to power its Seller Card, allowing marketplace sellers to receive earnings and spend them quickly.
Marqeta also supports physical/virtual/tokenized debit cards, account opening with KYC, and APIs for managing the program.
Caveat: Marqeta is more of a card-issuing/processing infrastructure layer than a turnkey marketplace payments stack like Stripe Connect or Adyen for Platforms. You may need additional infrastructure for seller balances, marketplace payment acceptance and KYC/KYB workflows depending on your design.
Best if: the debit card itself is a core product feature and you want maximum control over card behavior, funding and authorization.
Lithic supports debit, prepaid, charge and credit cards, including physical and virtual cards. It also has a disbursement product supporting instant card funding, ACH and book transfers.
Its API exposes account-holder KYC/KYB evaluation status, so it can cover the identity side as well.
Best if: you want a highly programmable card/disbursement layer and are comfortable building more of the marketplace financial architecture yourself.
Moov supports Push-to-Card instant payouts through Visa Direct/Mastercard Send, instant-bank payouts, wallets and card issuing in its API. docs.moov.io It also exposes APIs for issuing virtual cards.
The catch is that Moov's card issuing is currently described as closed beta, so I wouldn't put it ahead of the first three for a production marketplace unless Moov confirms availability for your program.
If I were evaluating this for a marketplace today:
One important distinction: “instant payout” can mean two different things. Stripe/Adyen can push a seller's existing marketplace balance to the seller's existing debit card, whereas Marqeta/Adyen/Lithic can be used to create the marketplace-branded debit card itself and make funds available on that card. If your requirement is specifically “every seller gets our branded debit card and sale proceeds land on it instantly,” I'd narrow the evaluation to Marqeta vs. Adyen vs. Stripe Issuing/Connect.
