Machine runs → MES automatically captures production → MES detects downtime → dashboard updates immediately → supervisor gets alert → root cause is recorded → OEE updates → production plan automatically shows whether we're going to hit today's target. That's where Plex, Opcenter and Tulip deserve the closest look.
And there's a critical caveat: the MES isn't magically going to create real-time visibility. Your PLCs, machines, SCADA/historian and data-collection architecture need to reliably feed it. Poor machine connectivity can turn an expensive MES into another system containing yesterday's numbers.
